Rising star Jared Anderson bites back at hungry Hrgovic: Breakfast or buffet?

#7 rated Ring heavyweight Jared Anderson posted a reaction to Filip Hrgovic this week to his comment about him being “breakfast” if they were to fight.

Hrgovic isn’t likely to want to mix it up with the talented 23-year-old American Jared Anderson because he has too much to lose by taking that fight. Jared is climbing the ladder in the division, and he would jump at the chance to face the Croatian to take his #1 spot with the IBF.

The 31-year-old Hrgovic is in a position to fight for the IBF heavyweight title, be it against the Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk winner or, more likely, for the vacated belt, possibly against Anthony Joshua.

Hrgovic in a delicate position

Filip Hrgovic: “Jared Anderson is for breakfast. This kid is not too smart to fight with me,” said Filip Hrgovic to DAZN Boxing.

Jared Anderson: The unbeaten #2 WBO, #5 IBF, #6 WBC ranked Anderson (16-0, 15 KOs) told #1 IBF Hrgovic (17-0, 14 KOs), “Boy, I know your mama told you to be careful what you ask for 👹 @filip_hrgovic.”

Hrgovic reportedly signed a multi-fight deal with the Saudis, and he’s already gotten one fight out of the way with his first round knockout victory over Mark De Mori last Saturday night on the ‘Day of Reckoning’ card in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The 2016 Olympic bronze medalist Hrgovic’s next fight in his Saudi contract could be for big money if he faces Joshua or the Fury-Usyk winner.

Jared Anderson would be too risky for Hrgovic to fight, even though the Saudis would probably be on board with him going in that direction if he can’t get AJ or the Usyk-Fury winner. They obviously wouldn’t want to see Hrgovic fighting another De Mori-level heavyweight for the second fight of his contract with them.

Top Rank hasn’t said who will be next for Jared Anderson to fight. He’s coming off a fifth round knockout victory over journeyman Andriy Rudenko last August in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

That was an impressive performance from Anderson, who looked improved from his previous fight against former IBF champion Charles Martin in July. In that fight, Martin clipped Anderson when he used the pull-back method that his friend Shakur Stevenson uses.

In the final round, Martin took advantage of Anderson raising his arms to celebrate in the final ten seconds by closing the distance quickly and clipping him with a shot. Against Rudenko, Anderson abandoned the pull-back move and was fully focused du thringe entire fight.

“Who’s next, and how do you see it going 💥🥊 #SoonToBeKing👑” said Jared Anderson on Instagram. “Fight date coming soon.
