Henry points out that Ryan (23-0, 19 KOs) has never been beaten up in a fight since his amateur days. He says if Calvin is convinced that Tank (28-0, 26 KOs) will put a hurting on Ryan, he wants him to try to do that by going after him.

Tank hasn’t fought anyone with the kind of punching power, hand speed, or deadly accuracy Ryan possesses during his nine-year professional career. Given that Tank’s opposition has been so lackluster, it’s anyone’s guess how he will hold up in this fight once Ryan starts landing shots on him.

We know that Tank was falling apart in his fight against Mario Barrios, and the situation was so dire that his promoter at the time, Floyd Mayweather Jr, felt the need to go to his corner after the seventh round to give him a pep talk.

Tank looked similarly bad in his fights against Rolly Romero, Isaac Cruz, Leo Santa Cruz, and Hector Garcia. This means Tank can be outboxed easily and can only count on his power to bail him out in fights. Obviously, sooner or later, Tank will lose, and it could be against Ryan. Someone like Shakur Stevenson would be a nightmare for Tank Davis, so he’s likely to be avoided his entire career.

“This is a big fight, and we know this, but he’s been wanting this since 2017,” said Henry Garcia to Fighthype about Ryan Garcia having targeted a match against Gervonta Davis for the last six years. It’s finally here, and I know he’s mentally prepared for it, and he’s physically prepared for it, so it’s a good positive sign there.

“If he feels that way, then come get it; that’s the way I look at it because I’m not going to say, ‘He said, she said.’ Just come get it,” said Henry when told that Gervonta said that someone from Ryan’s training camp informed him that he’d been hurt to the body in sparring.

“If that’s what he’s thinking, come get it. That’s all I can say. The thing is, Ryan is a warrior. Ryan has got the height and got the distance and has been boxing since he was seven years old. I’m going to tell you.

“For [Tank’s trainer] Calvin [Ford] to say that he wants Tank to beat up Ryan or knock him out, you are 100% or 1000% percent wrong on that because no one has beaten my son, and if you look at all of his fights, and even going back to the amateur days, no one has beaten up Ryan. So he’s totally wrong,”  said Henry.
