By Sam Volz: Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis vs. Ryan Garcia is back on after PBC sent back the contract that allows Golden Boy Promotions to be the lead promoter in the rematch if Kingry wins their April 15th fight.

Chris Mannix is reporting the good news about PBC sending the contract with the change that Golden Boy has insisted on for them to allow the 24-year-old Ryan to take the fight with Tank (28-0, 26 KOs) for their Showtime PPV contest.

It’s unknown whether Golden Boy and Ryan would have walked away from the lucrative Tank fight if they didn’t get their way because the future of the popular Instagram star is murky, given that he’s moving up to 140. He’s still totally unproven in his seven-year professional career.

The money that Ryan would make fighting the top fighters at light welterweight pales in comparison to what he’d get fighting the 28-year-old Baltimore native Gervonta, and the chances of losing are just as high, if not higher.

According to Mannix, the fight Davis-Garcia fight could take place a the 65,000-seat domed Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada.

Golden Boy reportedly wanted to get the Tank vs. Ryan fight done this week because the promotion/marketing of the April 15th fight needs to get underway so they can bring in as many pay-per-view buys as possible for the match.

Ryan has been looking huge lately, and it’s going to be interesting to see how Tank Davis deals with his size advantage in the fight. It’s not expected to be a problem for Ryan to get down to the 136-lb weight limit for the fight because he’s young and he’s not struggling yet to trim down for his fights.

“Honestly, I’m like everyone. I really don’t know, but Ryan has been looking a little bit bigger in his videos and whatnot. So at 140, maybe he does give Tank trouble? I don’t know, though. I really don’t know,” said super featherweight contender Andres Cortes to Fighthype when asked if Ryan Garcia can beat Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis.

“The time off from the ring [for Ryan Garcia], that could do damage to anybody. I wouldn’t be confident with Ryan, but I do think he could maybe do something. I don’t know because even if he goes 12 rounds, I think that’s a W [for Gervonta Davis],” said Cortes.
