Jermell Charlo calls out Canelo Alvarez: ‘Come see me, I want the smoke’

By Jim Calfa: Jermell Charlo called out Canelo Alvarez on Tuesday, letting him know that he wants that smoke if he’s not going to fight his brother Jermall.

It might be tricky to put a fight together between Undisputed super middleweight champion Canelo and IBF/WBA/WBC junior middleweight champion Charlo (34-1-1, 18 KOs) because they’re separated by two weight classes.

Another problem that would get in the way of Jermell fighting Canelo is that he’s got a rematch with Brian Castano coming up next on May 14th, and he might lose.

Castano exposed Jermell for having no inside game at all, as he was repeatedly worked over on the inside in the second half of that fight.

Boxing fans felt that Castano deserved the victory last July when he fought Jermell in San Antonio, Texas. The judges scored it as a draw, but

Jermell says Canelo (57-1-2, 39 KOs) was offered a two-fight deal for $100 million to fight Jermall but went in another direction to fight Dmitry Bivol and Gennadiy Golovkin.

“Come see me; I want the smoke. I want it all, baby,” said Jermell Charlo to the Last Stand Podcast with Brian Custer in calling out Canelo.

Well, if Jermell Charlo loses his rematch with Brian Castano, there won’t be any point in him asking Canelo for a fight. It’s questionable whether Jermell would accept a fight with Canelo even if it were offered.

Before Charlo starts calling out Canelo, he needs to take care of business against Canelo first.

“You got Andrade. He don’t know what he wants to do with his life. We can’t even count on Andrade to accept a fight,” said Charlo. “So we don’t even care about him.”

Many boxing fans believe Jermall Charlo is running scared of Demetrius Andrade. It would be good if the Charlo brothers did want to fight Andrade because it would be a huge fight.

“You make me to tell my brother to call out some of those guys that Canelo is calling out,” said Charlo. “Knock them off. If you knock them off, then he has no other choice but to say, ‘Let’s go on and accept that $100 million. I heard that’s what it was. I can’t confirm anything.

“Canelo, you’re a stud. A little short 5’8” mother f****, you go hard, but let’s see. We’re here to fight for our families. If you beat me, you’re better than me, cool. Can we prove that?

“Now there’s a reason why, and I don’t know what their reason why they’re making their decision. How about they split that same contract with the other guys?

“Be your free agent that you are, accept a one-fight deal, and go on and move on with life because you never know what’s next. Why do you want to accept ten fights, five fights, and four fights?

“You’re already the kind of your division. You’re the undisputed champion where you’re at and where I’m trying to become. When I come that way, I’m accepting that same money for a one-fight deal.

“They can do that possibly, and I ain’t trying to make nobody else pay no extra money but I believe that if my brother wants that fight like he said, what do my brother need to do? Go out on Instagram talking stupid to the Canelo fans?

“Canelo, you got a lot of fans, and we love the fan base you got. You’re red-headed mother f***. You been knocking mother f**** out. Now, do you retire or take one of the toughest fights of your career against a young African American stud who has been working his a** off since he was eight years old?

“Do my brother put it all on the line then?” said Jermell.
