By Ismail Chunara: Mark Breland broke his silence today in addressing the allegations Deontay Wilder has made against him. Breland the former Olympic gold medallist and world champion joined Spencer Fearon and Tunde Ajayi on their podcast Stamina for Sale.
Breland who was given the sack back in October by Wilder after Wilder had claimed Mark Breland had spiked his water. Wilder was also upset that Breland had thrown in the towel in his February bout last year vs. Tyson Fury.
This was the first time Breland has addressed the allegations. When asked about Wilder, Breland said to Stamina for Sale, “His (Wilder’s) career is over now, I’m done, and he’s done. I’m done with him.”
Breland also said, “Wilder only has his power, and we’ll see how far that takes him. That’s all I’m going to say.”
About spiking Wilders water, Breland said, “A lot of people know me; if you’re looking at tapes or whatever and stuff like that, You don’t ever see water in my hands. And regardless of that, I’m there to help you. When you win, I win.”
About Wilders loss Breland said, “Some people can’t take a loss, if you lose, you lose. Don’t blame everybody, go back and think about yourself.”
About if Fury’s gloves were dodgy and if he had some objects in them Breland said, “If he did, I don’t know. I doubt it very much, but at the same time, he aint going to beat Tyson Fury.”
Breland was clear in denying Wilder’s claims against him. And it is sad to see how the relationship between Breland and Wilder ended. Breland was the one on team Wilder who had leaps of experience Of actually being in the ring.
Breland also mentioned that Jay Deas was the one observing Fury have his hands wrapped.
You have to say that Wilder’s claims of Breland spiking his water are far fetched. Wilder previously did some interviews recently and implied he had some sort of evidence. Evidence the boxing world is still waiting on.
There is still some unclear news on the Fury – Wilder 3 mediation, which seems to be taking an age to sort out, but Fury seems to be moving on in an all British heavyweight undisputed clash against Anthony Joshua which is slated for sometime this May or June.
Wilder needs to accept his loss to Fury and only when he accepts the loss can he move on and improve himself.
I look forward to seeing if the hard-hitting Deontay ‘The Bronze Bomber’ Wilder can comeback from this setback. I wish him the best of luck.
