By Scott Gilfoid: IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (64-3, 53 KOs) expects his opponent Tyson Fury (24-0, 18 KOs) to perform a disappearing act later this month after Wladimir knocks him out on November 28th at the ESPRIT Arena in Dusseldorf, Germany.
Fury has already said that he might retire from boxing if he loses to the 39-year-old Klitschko on 11/28, and that’s what the Ukrainian is expecting him to do.
“I’m going to knock him [Fury] out and he’s then going to disappear from boxing,” Klitschko said.
It would be sad if Fury slinks off into the sunset after he loses to Klitschko, and then goes and lives in a cave high on a mountain top somewhere. I’d also hate to see Fury living in a shack in the wilderness, growing a long beard, and cutting himself off from human civilization in a knee-jerk reaction to his KO defeat to Klitschko. I mean, there’s no shame in Fury getting knocked out cold by Wladimir, is there? It’s not as if Fury has faced anyone good in his career to prepare for the fight, so a knockout loss is kind of expected for Fury.
Fury hasn’t taken the prerequisite courses to get ready for a fighter as talented as Wladimir. If this was school, Fury would be going from classes in rudimentary mathematics straight into engineering level physics courses without having the foundation to survive in those classes. I hate to say it, but Fury is going to be totally lost against Wladimir, and it’s his own fault by skipping the building block fights against big heavyweights like Kubrat Pulev, Erkan Teper, Joseph Parker, Carlos Takam, Dillian Whyte and Alexander Povetkin.

If Fury had faced all of those guys and beaten them, then I would say he’s ready for a fight against Wladimir, but the problem is he hasn’t faced those guys. Instead of fighting those guys, we’ve seen Fury fighting this bunch: Dereck Chisora, Joey Abell, Christian Hammer, Martin Rogan, Nicolai Firtha, Kevin Johnson, Vinny Maddalone, Neven Pajkic,, Marcelo Luiz Nascimento, Rich Power and John McDermott.
Fury’s recent watermelon destruction was very disturbing to me, because it proved nothing in terms of him showing whether he’s a good heavyweight or not. It’s also a potentially dangerous thing for Fury to be busting watermelons with his head, because it might shake something loose upstairs in his brain housing, making it even easier than it already is for Wladimir to KO him on November 28th.

The video just shows how desperate Fury has become to try and intimidate Klitschko and get some sort of edge over him. I don’t think it’s going to work, because Wladimir isn’t going to be scared off by nonsense like this from Fury. If anything, I think Wladimir has pity for Fury; although not enough pity to take it easy on him in the ring in their fight this month.
Back to the idea of Fury disappearing from boxing if and when he loses to Wladimir; I think it’s going to be so sad if Fury just packs up a little ruck sack and heads for the nearest mountaintop to disappear after he gets beaten by Fury. I know the shame response from some people is to hide away from people after they’ve been embarrassed, but I don’t think that it’s healthy and adult behavior. It’s no big deal if Fury loses the fight, because it’s not as if he was ever expected to win in the first place, and like I said, Fury never had the proper preparation to beat Klitschko.
