Fury sounding overly confident for Chisora fight

fury689By Scott Gilfoid: Tyson Fury (22-0, 16 KO’s) is talking like he can walk on water as he gets ready for WBO heavyweight eliminator bout against #1 WBO Dereck Chisora (20-4, 13 KO’s) on July 26th at the Phones 4u Arena in Manchester, Lancashire, United Kingdom. The winner of the Fury-Chisora match-up will be the mandatory challenger to WBO champ Wladimir Klitschko.

Fury said on his twitter, “Any promoters out there who fancy @dellboychisora to beat me I’m talking all side bets? Up to 500k??”

The fact that Fury is talking like that tells me that he’s way too confident than he should be given how he’s looked in his last two fights against Joey Abell and Steve Cunningham. Fury was a flabby 274 pounds in his last fight against Abell last February, and while ended up winning that fight by a 4th round knockout, it was troubling to see how fat he was.

Fury’s defense was as porous as it was in his fight against Cunningham, and if not for Abell’s inability to take a decent shot without falling down, Fury might have ended up getting knocked out in that fight. Had Abell withstood Fury’s slapping shots, he would have had an excellent chance of knocking him out because he was landing cleanly with huge shots the entire 4 rounds of the fight.

If Chisora can work himself in close on July 26th, I think he’s got an excellent chance of knocking the 6’9” Fury out cold, especially if Chisora can land some of those textbook rabbit shots he’s been throwing recently in his fights. Fury already has a questionable chin, but if he gets brained by one of Chisora’s rabbit shots to the back of the head 4-5 times on July 26th, it could be good night for Fury as long as the referee doesn’t disqualify Chisora or penalize him.

Fury has no inside game whatsoever, and that means Chisora will have a good chance of beating him if he can stay on top of him for as long as this fight lasts. I mean, I don’t see the fight going the distance. Either way, one of these guys is going to taste the canvas for the 10 count in this fight. It’s just a question of which one will be staring up at the lights on July 26th.

Chisora has the better chance of scoring a knockout if he’s smart and doesn’t give Fury punching room, but he’ll be disciplined for him to fight in that manner. If Chisora gives Fury punching room, he’s going to be slapped silly in this fight and knocked out.
