“The Roy Jones Jr. stance”
He does this occasionally when he wants to counter. Floyd leans forward exposing his face with his left arm down and his right hand is up and ready to counter. He usually throws one left jab to the body. He is usually looking to counter the other person’s jab in this stance.

2. “The Shoulder Roller”
This what we often see him do. His chin is tucked under his left shoulder, his right hand above his right side of his head, and his weight is in the back of his legs. This is his primary defensive mode because he can use his shoulder to absorb punches, he can block with his elbow, he can duck, he can catch punches with his right hand, he can block his body with his left elbow, and he can step back if he wanted to. Floyd usually jabs or throw left hooks during this stance. He also tries to counter anything by raising his should and blocking shots like the right hand. He also uses this stance on the outside and when fighting in the pocket.

3. “The Puncher Style”
This is what we rarely see him do although he did do this throughout the Mosley fight. He comes forward with both hands on the sides of his head and stands toe to toe throwing one or two punches at a time. This is used to get on the inside to tie opponents up, he also uses this when he wants to pressure opponents. You saw him doing this a lot in the Mosley fight because Mosley has a big punch and he needs a cover when trying to get on the inside of those guys.

How to beat Floyd?

In order to beat Floyd Mayweather his opponent must recognize all three styles. These three styles are why Floyd can adjust to almost anything. I think though if he does loose it will be to a tall southpaw. This is probably because the southpaw stance can move left and counter with his straight left. This is because the right side of Floyd is open when he fights a lefty. They also need to be tall because they need to be able to get into Floyd’s defensive circle. They also need to have a longer reach so they can keep the fight at long distance. Floyd’s opponent also need to jab up like the Klitschko’s in order to make Floyd step back even further to avoid the punch. Until Floyd fight’s someone with this style, he probably won’t lose. He probably didn’t want to risk it when he was offered a fight with Paul “The Punisher” Williams a few years back.
