By Scott Gilfoid: 37-year-old Brian Magee (36-4-1, 25 KO’s) and Mikkel Kessler (45-2, 34 KO’s) will be doing battle on December 8th for the vacant WBA World super middleweight title in BOXEN, Herning, Denmark. Magee is ready to take Kessler out and add his name to the other Danes that Magee has whipped recently. Magee is making it a habit of beating Danes and adding their scalps to his collection after having already beaten Rudy Markussen and Mads Larsen.

Magee isn’t just beating them, he’s smashing the Danes and making it look easy. Adding Kessler’s valuable scalp to his collection will be the biggest prize of all because of his past accomplishments and his notoriety. Kessler is definitely ready to be put out of his misery because he’s starting to show vulnerability as we saw in Kessler’s last fight against Allan Green where Kessler was rudely knocked to the canvas by the hard hitting American last May.

Magee said to the belfasttelegraph.co.uk “I have the tools to break him [Kessler] down and beat him. He ran from a fight earlier in the year after he was ringside and was witness to the destruction of Markussen. But now I have him and he will go the same way.”

Yes, it’s always good to knock off a fighter with a name and the timing for this fight is just perfect for Magee. Kessler is starting to show age and he’s ready to be taken down and put out to pasture. Magee has the power, talent and the skills to defeat Kessler and humble him in front of his own fans in Denmark. It’s actually good this way because Kessler can get on with his life after Magee takes him out. There’s got to be other things that Kessler can do once his career is over, like maybe training fighters.

Magee has won his last two fights over Jaime Barboza and Rudy Markussen. Magee was beaten by Lucian Bute last year in a 10th round TKO in March of 2011. There’s no shame in losing to a talent like Bute, so it’s not as if Magee got beaten by a soft touch or anything.
