Image: Deontay Wilder will go far with the strongest right hand in the gameBy Scott Gilfoid: Heavyweight prospect Deontay Wilder (24-0, 24 KO’s) really opened some eyes last night with his crushing 1st round knockout victory over Kertson Manswell in Mobile, Alabama. The fight was televised by Fox Sports and this allowed many thousands of new viewers to see the 26-year-old Wilder for the first time, and they collectively came away impressed with Wilder’s right hand power.

It’s pretty much academic at this point that the 6’7″ Wilder has the strongest right hand in the sport of boxing. It’s scary how good Wilder’s right hand is, because the 2008 U.S Olympic bronze medalist is sporting a 100 percent knockout ratio and that’s no accident. Wilder has been knocking guys out in the 1st round at an incredible pace, scoring 15 1st round knockouts. This is statistic that you rarely, if ever see from a fighter.

With his right hand power, Wilder is going to go far in the sport. If that’s all he had, it would be still enough for him to win world titles and stay on top of the heavyweight heap for many years. However, Wilder has more than a right hand now, as he’s worked hard in the gym at developing his left and it’s now an equally formidable weapon for him.

The improvement that Wilder has shown from his early fights to where he is now is nothing short of spectacular. Wilder is nothing like the fighter that existed 10 fights ago. Back then, Wilder had little balance, no left hand and little in the way of defense. But he’s worked hard in all those areas to where now he’s graceful on his feet, superb with his left hand and skilled at getting out of the way of shots.

With his right hand power, Wilder has the potential of knocking out heavyweights like Wladimir Klitschko, David Haye, Vitali Klitschko, Alexander Povetkin and Tomasz Adamek with a single punch. That’s how powerful Wilder’s right hand is.

Wilder has an outgoing personality, a great smile, and the charm to make him a fan friendly for HBO. He could soon have major endorsement offers as soon as he picks up a world title and defends it a few times with sensational 1st round knockouts every time out.

At 26, Wilder’s career is running smoothly and on the same course as IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko’s was early in his career, except that Wilder hasn’t been knocked out by guys like Ross Purity, and Corrie Sanders like Wladimir was t a similar age.

Wilder is ahead of fellow prospects/contenders David Price and Seth Mitchell, and much more dangerous than Tyson Fury. Wilder is the complete package and could be destined for super stardom if he continues at this pace. The skies the limit with this talented heavyweight.
