Image: Fury: When the Klitschkos see me against Rogan, they will be quaking in their bootsBy William Mackay: Tyson Fury (17-0, 12 KO’s) thinks the Klitschko brothers will be impressed and afraid after they see his performance against 40-year-old Martin Rogan (14-2, 7 KO’s) on Saturday night in Fury’s battle for the vacant Irish heavyweight title at the Odyssey Arena, Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom.

Fury said to thesun.co.uk “I’m ready for the Klitschkos and when they see me against Rogan, they will be quaking in their boots.”

I think they be shaking with laughter more so than quaking. It’s the wrong opponent for the Klitschkos to be impressed or afraid. Fury has picked an old guy to fight that’s much smaller than him and has lost two out of his last four fights. In other words, a part-time fighter. It looks like Fury is cherry picking for a beatable opponent rather than doing what he should had done by facing David Price. The Klitschkos would have been impressed with that. They will not be impressed with Fury beating a guy that is past 40.

Fury did a backwards move by picking out Rogan. He jammed his career into reverse and now he thinks people will be impressed with him if and when he beats Rogan. Why should they be? Fury picks out a 2nd tier fighter and he thinks he’s going to be impressing people by beating him. Fury doesn’t seem to be seeing the whole picture. He’s pulling a regressive move and he wants to be celebrated for it. You’d have to be a pretty big Fury fan to be impressed with him beating Rogan.

More likely than not, Fury will have enough problems with Rogan’s power early on to where he’ll have to struggle and overcome serious punishment in order to win this fight, and in doing so, Fury will end up NOT impressing. A 23-year-old top 15 world class heavyweight contender like Fury isn’t supposed to struggle with a part time 40-year-old 2nd tier boxer. Fury is supposed to easily beat these types of fighters if he’s truly in the same class as the Klitschkos. After all, did you see Wladimir or Vitali struggling with 40-year-old competition early in their careers? I know Wladimir was stopped by a 37-year-old southpaw Corrie Sanders, but there’s a worlds of difference between Sanders and Rogan.

There’s no shame in getting flattened by Sanders because he was huge, quick as a cat and deadly with his fire power early in his fights. Rogan is more of a pure domestic level slugger. Can he be problems if he lands? Yes, he can, but the better fighters should be able to beat him with no problems. If Fury can’t beat Rogan with ease it’s going to suggest that Fury doesn’t deserve a fight with either of the Klitschkos other than for the sake of just making money. Competitively speaking, Fury won’t deserve to be in with either of them because he’ll get wiped out.
