Image: Hearns says Pacquiao and Mayweather should fightBy Chris Williams: For what it’s worth, former boxing great Thomas “Hitman” Hearns thinks Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao should get in the ring and find out who the best fighter is between them.

Hearns told AP that Pacquiao and Mayweather should “Put it all on the line and go for it.”

It sounds great but Pacquiao and Mayweather has so many issues that separate the two of them that I feel the fight will never be made. Pacquiao seems to be fading as a fighter, yet still wants an even 50-50 deal and Mayweather has already said that’s not going to happen. The money isn’t be enough for him to waste time taking the fight because he can make almost as much money by fighting other guys where he gets a much bigger money cut. So why should he give a guy that is starting to show serious signs of wear and tear an even 50-50 deal? He shouldn’t because it doesn’t make financial sense unless Pacquiao is willing to accept the lump offer that Mayweather is willing to give him.

Hearns obviously wants to see the fight but if you look at it from Mayweather’s perspective, why give a guy that is on his way down an even split when he’s not even able to beat Juan Manuel Marquez without controversy time after time after time. It’s been three fights and Pacquiao hasn’t beaten Marquez without controversy. I personally scored all three fights for Marquez no matter how hard I tried to see Pacquiao as a winner. He simply didn’t do enough to win those fights.
