Image: Chisora may have to wait awhile before he gets Helenius rematchBy William Mackay: Dereck Chisora (15-2, 9 KO’s) badly wants a rematch against Robert Helenius (17-0, 11 KO’s) after losing an unpopular 12 round split decision against him last weekend. Chisora will probably get his wish, as Helenius’s promoter is open to putting Helenius back in with Chisora.

However, Chisora may have to wait awhile to get his rematch because contender Alexander Dimitrenko (32-1, 21 KO’s) is reportedly already promised a fight against Helenius for the EBU heavyweight title that Helenius picked up last Saturday night with his victory.

Dimitrenko can fight a little and there’s a good chance Helenius might end up losing that fight if he looks as bad as he did against Chisora. Dimitrenko, 6’7”, is vulnerable but he’s a lot bigger than the guys that Helenius has been fighting recently and he could pull off a minor upset.

Would Chisora still be interested in fighting Helenius without the EBU title on the line? Maybe, but facing a guy that just got beat might not be as appealing. Chisora would be better off forgetting about Helenius in that case and going after Dimitrenko.

If Chisora can get a rematch against Helenius, he wants the fight to take place in a neutral venue instead of in Helenius’ home country of Finland again. Chisora said to boxrec.com “I want the rematch on neutral ground…We find somewhere else. I think me and him will sell out. We have to have a rematch in January or February.”

Chisora appears to be dreaming. He’s not in the position to dictate where the fight will take place, and that goes for when it takes place as well. Chisora should count himself lucky if he gets a rematch, period.
