Image: Ward: I want to beat Froch in a convincing manner to move up to a higher levelBy Scott Gilfoid: WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward knows that he not only has to beat WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch on December 18th in their Super Six finals bout in Atlantic City, New Jersey, but he has to dominate Froch as well by beating him so bad that boxing fans will have no question that Ward is the top guy in the division. He can’t just struggle to beat Froch, because that will mean that Ward isn’t as good as he needs to be for him to get to the next level.

There is a level above Froch, and that’s IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute. He’s the guy that Ward is aiming for after he takes care of business against Froch next month.

Ward said “These are the type of fights that you need to win, and win convincingly in order to cross over to the higher levels. This is huge in terms of stakes that are on the line.”

Ward will do a number on Froch on December 17th by beating him without question. There won’t be any doubts in anyone’s minds who the better fighter is between the two Super Six tourney competitors. Ward thinks Froch will be making a big mistake if he caters his offense to try and go after Ward’s old scar tissue from a recent cut. Ward says Froch will “Get himself in trouble if he tries to focus too hard to open an old cut.”

Froch doesn’t have the talent to get away with just going after one part of Ward’s body and finding success. Sure, Froch can target the cut but he’s going to be getting fired on big time because he’ll leave so many openings by focusing on one part of Ward. It’ll lead to Froch losing by a lopsided decision, which he’ll probably lose by anyway.
