By John F. McKenna (McJack): Tyson Fury (14-0, 10 KO’s) says that he is more than ready for his Saturday night matchup at Wembley Arena against British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion Dereck Chisora (14-0, 9 KO’s).
The 6’9” Fury has come under much criticism for how outspoken he has been in the lead up to his fight with Chisora, who has yet to lose as a professional. Fury says that he will back up his words against Chisora and claim the titles he has always wanted.
“The Big Brawl” PPV event is being distributed in the U.S. by Integrated Sports Media for live viewing at 3 PM/ET on both cable and satellite Pay Per View.
This will be Fury’s biggest test by far and Tyson is aware that many people feel Chisora is too much, too soon. The 22 year old Fury, however has no doubts and insists that he will produce a performance to remember.
Fury was quoted in the Sweet Science as saying “I’m in the best shape of my life for the fight of my life and Dereck Chisora won’t know what hit him on Saturday night.
“I don’t care if I knock him out early or whether I have to go into the trenches, the titles are mine and Dereck knows it. He is going to freak out when he sees the condition I’m in. I’ve done my talking and now it’s time for action.
“I’ve had some great sparring with a Canadian that we brought in and I know this is my time, this is Tyson time and on Saturday night everybody watching channel 5 and everybody watching in Wembley Arena will see it.
“I am the future of heavyweight boxing. I’m the man who can bring the World title back to Britain. David Haye has lost it apparently because of a sore toe, well I’ll bring it home again.”
Fury’s promoter Mike Henneessy is convinced that Fury has the kind of skills and power that will get people behind him. Hennessy’s confidence in Fury is expected. After all, he is Fury’s promoter and hyping their fighter is what promoters do.
Tyson Fury it seems has taken a page out of his fellow countrymen David Haye’s book with his boasting. It would seem to someone on the outside looking in that Fury is a tad bit premature and that he should be more established as a fighter before he starts emulating David Haye. It is unfortunate that Tyson brought up the issue of Haye’s broken pinky toe. There is not a soul west of the Big Pond who believes that the broken toe had a thing to do with the “Haymaker’s” loss to Vladimir Klitschko on July 2.
Speaking of Vladimir Klitschko, it is rumored that he is interested in fighting the winner of the Fury – Chisora fight.
