I'm the best at 140 and will prove itBy William Mackay: WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (25-1, 17 KO’s) is hoping to prove he’s the best fighter – or one of the best – at 140 by beating WBC/WBO light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley (27-0, 11 KO’s) in July on HBO. Khan has already accepted an offer for the fight and it’s now up to Bradley to accept his offer. However, Bradley is reportedly not interested in facing Khan for the money that has been offered to him.

Khan said this yesterday on his twitter page: “Promise you I will beat Bradley. I always said I’m the best 140 lb fighter. I’ll prove it.”

Khan is going to have a hard time proving that if he can’t get the fight with Bradley. The fight will come around sooner or later but khan may have to take on another two or three fighters before the interest is high enough for the fight for both of them to get the real big money that would make it worthwhile. If the fight can’t get negotiated this time around, Khan needs to step up and fight a rematch with Breidis Prescott to try and avenge his 1st round knockout defeat from three years ago. A win over Prescott would really help Khan, as would a fight against IBF light welterweight champion Zab Judah. Those are two fights that should be a priority for Khan. He also needs to face the winner of the June fight because Devon Alexander and Lucas Matthysse. Beating the winner of that fight, Prescott and then Judah would be big moves for Khan to help make his fight with Bradley much bigger than it is right now.
