By Shaun Campbell: The prizefighter series is back tonight live on sky sports 1. The popular tournament that’s always filled with excitement promises to be a top night of boxing with some of the brightest young stars and a few fighters looking for a last shot at the big time. It’s a tournament that creates fantastic opportunities for the winner. It resulted in Audley Harrison getting a world title shot last year…need we say more. Anything is possible for these 8 men and any one of them can win it.

Billy Slate (2-0 0ko’s) vs Jack Morris (5-1 1ko)

Travis Dickinson (7-0 3ko’s) vs Llewellyn Davies (5-0 3ko’s)

Tony Dodson (24-6-1 12ko’s) vs Michael Banbula (11-25-4 0ko’s)

Joe Smyth (7-1 4ko’s) vs Menay Edwards (4-0 1ko)

Reserve: Sam Couzens

Liverpool’s former British super-middleweight champion Tony Dodson is the favourite to capture to title, but he faces the man who, on paper should have no chance against against the experienced Dodson. Michael Banbula, a journeyman usually used as an “easy” fight for prospects coming through is on the form of his life. Undefeated in 5 fights and now holds a win over former prizefighter champion Tony Oakey, and held Olympic bronze medallist Tony Jeffries to a draw. Banbula whose awkward style can cause problems for anyone, and in this type of tournament an upset wouldn’t be a surprise.

Joe Smyth is a former England amateur star is desperate to prove he’s more than the forgotten man, who boxed alongside fighters such as Tony Jeffries, Joe Murray and Frankie Gavin. He believes he has the power to beat anyone he’s put in front of, and also says that the 3 round style will suit him. Billy Slate insists his lack of experience will not stop him from achieving his destiny. Jack Morris, who lost his first fight to fellow contestant Michael Banbula believes he has come on so much from that fight and the loss made him a better fighter.

Travis Dickinson is desperate to follow in his brother Jon-Lewis’ footsteps. Jon-Lewis won the last cruiserweight prizefighter. Dickinson does also hold a win over the super-middleweight Patrick Mendy. Little is known about the other fighters Menway Edwards and Llewellyn Davies, but there is no doubt they will be focused on capturing the prize. A top’s night action is surely in store.
