Khan says Alexander looked scared against Bradley, thinks Maidana would beat Devon

By Dan Ambrose: WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan wasn’t impressed with what he saw of Saturday’s fight between WBO light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley (27-0, 11 KO’s) and WBC champion Devon Alexander (21-1, 13 KO’s), comparing it unfavorably with his match-up with Marcos Maidana last December.

Speaking in his twitter account, Khan said “Fight was poor last night I have a lot of respect for both but compare the clash that me vs maidana, we show cl#!@%*#, bradley looked strong but beatable, alexander looked scared and couldn’t get going due to nerves. But good luck to them both bradley made clear who he wants but devon didn’t. We all getting very close to no who the best 140lbs fighter is. In summer khan v bradley! And maidana v alexander, but watching alexander fight yesterday maidana would eat him, because he has no defense and tip taps. Maidana would go right threw him”

Khan is correct about Alexander not showing power against Bradley. Maidana would likely be far too powerful for Alexander to handle. It’s a fight that many boxing fans would have likely favoured Alexander in previous to his fights Andriy Kotelnik and Bradley, but now that Alexander has been more or less exposed in those two fights, I don’t think he would do well against a far bigger puncher than those two fighters in Maidana.

Alexander would have to run in order to survive against Maidana, and he could end up quitting again and using one excuse or another for having given up. Last Saturday night, Alexander got out of the fight after a head clash in the 10th, and took a long time playing up the pain before the bout was finally stopped. Maidana would have Alexander soul searching with his big power shots and I could see him quitting rather than continuing to take shots.
