Arum still won’t come out and name Mosley as Pacquiao’s next opponent

By Chris Williams: Top Rank promoter Bob Arum still won’t come out and just say that Manny Pacquiao’s next opponent for April 16th will be 39-year-old Shane Mosley out of the small pack of fighters that are being picked over for the big money fight opportunity. Supposedly, Andre Berto and Juan Manuel Marquez are still officially in the running, even though Arum hasn’t exactly been excited about Pacquiao facing either of those two fighters.

Arum is still saying that he’s going to present the offers from the three fighters to see what he decides, although Arum is obviously going to let Pacquiao know what his two cents are about who he feels is the best choice. I can already predict who’s going to be the one that gets to face Pacquiao and it sure isn’t going to be Marquez or Berto. Those guys are fighting too good at this point to get the pick, whereas Mosley has been looked absolutely horrible recently. There it is. Mosley gets the pick.

I don’t know why it’s been working out like this lately, but it seems that the guys that Pacquiao has been facing one after another for the past two years have been fighters struggling with recent losses that included them absorbing terrifying amounts of punishment, starvation diets, old and shot or were just plain average. Mosley fits into that bunch with being old and leaning towards being shot. That’s why I see him getting the pick rather than Marquez, who is still looking good and Berto, who looked sensational in his last fight against Freddy Hernandez.
