By Sean McDaniel: World Boxing Association (WBA) light welterweight champion Amir Khan has lent a helping hand to Ricky Hatton, who is undergoing a drug treatment rehabilitation. In an article at the sun.co.uk, Khan says “I am here to give him [Hatton] any help he needs and I hope he gets over his problems soon. Ricky has done something wrong but everybody makes mistakes in their life at one time or another.”

Hatton was observed on video a week ago snorting lines of what allegedly is cocaine in a Manchester hotel room. Hatton says “I know I am never going to fight again but I know I have to fight this battle and win. I need to move on and find something else in my life, whether it be golf or fishing. I feel great shame but I know I can get myself back on track.” Hatton need to change his habits and how he spends his free time if he wants to successfully treat his problems with chemicals. Drugs may not be Hatton’s main problem. He likes to drink alcohol, and he needs get on top of that problem if he wants to get healthy.

The Sun reports that Hatton doesn’t feel he has a drinking problem. If that’s the case, then he may continue to drink and that would be disappointing. In looking at how much Guinness he put away on the night that he was observed snorting lines, it could be a sign that he has a drinking problem. On that night, Hatton reportedly drank 11 Guinness, four Vodkas and two glasses of wine. That’s a lot of alcohol for most people to drink and you have to wonder whether this was a special occasion or if it was just another day for Hatton.
