rogan53455By Steven Wain: On October 8th in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Martin Rogan (12-1-6 KO’s) will try to get revenge on the only man to beat him so far in his professional career, Sam Sexton (12-1-5 KO’s). They will battle it out for Sexton’s Commonwealth heavyweight title that he captured from Rogan in controversial fashion from their first bout which took place on May 15th.

In Their first fight Rogan dominated most of the rounds and had several chances to finish off Sexton especially in the 8th were Sexton even had his hands down, but Rogan being the sportsman he is let Sexton recover thinking the referee would stop the fight however, this was not the case, and the referee took Rogan over to the doctor who then stopped the fight declaring Rogan unfit to continue because of a closed eye caused by multiple clash of heads, giving Sexton a TKO victory and the Commonwealth heavyweight title. This caused Rogan to become outraged and many fans think it was not the right decision by the doctor, although I find it hard to see how Rogan could have continued with only one eye.

Due to the controversy of their first fight and Rogan wanting to not only win his title back but to set the record straight, Frank Warren made a rematch that will take place on October 8th at the Odyssey arena, Belfast, Northern Ireland, the same place as their first bout.

This time the fight looks and sounds like its going to be a lot more physical and vicious with Rogan saying “Sexton is going to be toast when I catch up with him” and Sexton replying with “I know exactly how to beat him now, and as long as I don’t do anything stupid then I’m going to win this fight more easily than I won the last one.” This rematch looks like its going to be a treat of a fight for all boxing fans.

So who will win this rematch? Personally my money is on Rogan he looked a lot better in their previous fight, and much more dangerous then Sexton also, Rogan once again has the advantage of the home crowd; however, Sexton has the mental advantage over Rogan after already beating him once, and maybe even the physical conditioning.

I expect a close fight with Rogan winning by TKO in the 9th.
