Jeff Mayweather: If anybody else was fighting Andre Berto, fans wouldn’t have a problem with it

Floyd Mayweather and Andre BertoBy Chris Williams: Jeff Mayweather believes that the only reason why Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26 KOs) is catching flak about fighting former two time world champion Andre Berto (30-3, 23 KOs) is because it’s superstar Mayweather and he’s held to a higher standard than the other fighters were.

Jeff sees Berto as a good fighter because he’s well-known to the casual boxing fans, he’s always involved in exciting fights, and he’s got good skills and power. Jeff doesn’t see Berto as any kind of pushover by any stretch of the imagination.

Ronda Rousey thinks she’d beat Floyd Mayweather Jr. in a no rules fight

rousey4By Allan Fox: UFC female bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey added Floyd Mayweather Jr’s name to the list of fighters she thinks she’d beat if the two of them were to mix it up in a no rules type fight. By saying no rules, Rousey is basically saying it would be a fight where anything goes. That obviously wouldn’t be an MMA fight because they do have rules, a lot of them. In other words, Rousey seems to think she would beat Mayweather in a street fight.

Let’s be clear on this; Mayweather has shown no interest at all in wanting to fight Rousey, and I don’t think she’s really interested either. She’s just talking in terms of hypothetical fights. He doesn’t believe in a man hitting a woman, saying via the washingtonpost.com “there’s no setting in which we should condone a man hitting a woman.”

Ishe Smith thinks it’s crazy for people to want Mayweather to fight Golovkin

Floyd Mayweather and Andre BertoBy Allan Fox: Former junior middleweight world champion Ishe Smith believes that Floyd Mayweather Jr. won’t get credit from boxing fans no matter what he does. He can beat Keith Thurman and Kell Brook, and he won’t receive credit for beating him.

Smith thinks that Mayweather didn’t get the appreciation he should have gotten for his win over Manny Pacquiao recently due to the Filipino revealing that he came into the fight with a bad right shoulder problem.

Mayweather names his best five ever list with his name at No.1

Floyd MayweatherBy Dan Ambrose: Floyd Mayweather Jr. placed himself at the top of the list of the best five fighters of all time. Mayweather’s list is kind of controversial though because he’s not included boxing greats like Sugar Ray Robinson, Joe Louis, Jack Dempsey, Sugar Ray Leonard, Jack Johnson or Jake Lamotta on the list.

1. Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Why all the fuss over Mayweather’s pound for pound choices?

Floyd Mayweather JrBy John Kelvin: In the last day or so some mainstream media and fans have appeared to become upset by Floyd Mayweather Jr’s choice of the top 5 pound for pound fighters.

The list was Mayweather at number one, Duran at two, Chavez at three, Whittaker at four and Ali and five. Since all of these fighters are all time greats, I fail to see why there is such an outcry. These are five choices based on his own opinion of who he thinks are the best.

Berto fight, a tune-up fight for a Mayweather-Pacquiao rematch in 2016

1-_DSC0743By Paco Gurrola: Readers, bloggers and critics are all trying to make sense of Floyd Mayweather Jr’s recent move in choosing to fight former IBF/WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto on September 12th. To some it seems illogical, to some it really doesn’t matter and to others, it somewhat makes sense.

There is no straight answer to it, but to me this is as transparent as the air we breathe. It makes complete sense that Floyd “Money” Mayweather would not risk getting into a fight he is not 100% sure he can win; at least not at this stage of his career. This could “potentially” be the last fight of his brilliant boxing career.

Mayweather Jr vs. Berto: Can Andre beat Floyd?

1-_DSC0856By Gerardo Granados: As much as only a few people have tried to hype Andre Berto W30 (23)-L3-D0 as a dangerous foe for the undefeated and undisputed welterweight Champion of the World Floyd Mayweather Jr. W48 (26)-L0-D0 it is evident that all around the internet you can find boxing sites – forums in which this particular bout have been diminished to an authentic mismatch not worth to pay for.

It was really odd to see how Floyd praised Andre on their first press conference. It was like going into a used car dealer and listen to the salesman trying to convince you on how great the old SUV is; telling you that you should not pay attention to the dents on the bodywork or the high mileage and high fuel consumption of the vehicle, because the salesman believes it is a great car but also tells you that he doesn’t care if you buy it or not.

thurman4By Danny Esch: Keith “One Time” Thurman was at a round table discussion with reporters from many news outlets and he was asked many questions about Khan, Collazo, Mayweather vs. Berto plus the term “regular” vs. “super” champion.

Berto: This is going to be a fairytale ending for me against Mayweather

Andre BertoBy Dan Ambrose: Former IBF/WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto (30-3, 23 KOs) is poised to rewrite the history books on September 12th, when he turns his career completely around in the process of handing unbeaten Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26 KOs) his first loss of his career when he gets him inside the squared circle in their fight on Showtime pay-per-view at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Berto says he’s familiar with Mayweather’s fighting style after seeing his fights for years now, and he thinks he’s going to cause a huge upset by beating the 38-year-old. It’s certainly in Berto’s best interest to do his utmost to defeat Mayweather, because that gives Berto his best chance of getting a second big money rematch.
