just remember that floyd had his breakout year in 1998 but had to wait til hopkins lost to taylor in the spring of 2005 to become the p4p number one guy. ward had his breakout in 2009 with the kessler win and broner just got his breakout win a couple of months ago against demarco. floyd is gonna fight until at least the end of 2014 so alot of things can happen. but i have a strong feeling that broner can jump ward because of two things. broner is 5 lbs away from a loaded division where he can gain considerable ground with wins over the top guys at junior welter. and if ward stays at 168 fighting retreads, his career can plateau whereas broner can become bonefide star fighting the likes of matthysee, garcia rios and khan.

I think I’m alone here but I don’t think PACman is that good.

Posted January 9, 2013

I too will miss Mayweather, the guy is just a boxing genious…….
I think that Broner and Canelo can keep the spirit alive, that is if Canelo can beat Trout which the writer here doesn’t believe will happen.
Hopefully boxing won’t go through a drought.
One more thing, I think if they lowered the price of ppv boxing they would triple their money, just sayin…….

I DISAGREED ON ONE POINT, BOXING BEEN A RELIGION FOR MEXICANS???? NOO , NOT AT ALL.
IF THAT WAS THE CASE MEXICO WILL HAVE TWICE AS MUCH CHAMPS,SOCCER EVEN LUCHA LIBRE ARE MORE POPULAR, BULL RIDING ETC….WHEN I TALKED TO MEXICANS THEY ARE BAD ON BOXING FROM FIGHTERS TO DATES, FIGHTS, RESULTS ETC… EVEN WITH THOSE WHO CLAIM TO KNOW THE SPORT OF BOXING DONT KNOW IT. WHEN A MEXICAN FIGHTER FIGHTS SPECIALLY IN THE U.S THATS THE REASON THEY COME HERE, BECAUSE IN MEXICO THERES NO SUCH THING AS RELIGION OR many followers,IS MORE THE NOISE AND PUBLICITY MAKE AROUND SPECIALLY MEXICANS IN THE U.S IS MORE ABOUT THE SUPPORT OF YOUR MEXICAN FELLOW THAN THE SPORT ITSELF. I KNOW 100% SURE ABOUT THIS, SOME MEXICAN LIKE THE SPORT BUT A RELIGION, WHAT A WRONG STATEMENT VERY OFF.

Floyd Mayweather, jr. is still in retirment since he ducked Manny Pacquiao a long time ago…

…meaning he is not the p4p king…

i have a list and this is from actually watching fights and paying attention……adrien broner very good combination of skills and offense, esrilandy lara you need to pay attention to this guy very talented, canelo alvarez will only get better, robert guerrero will lose to floyd but is a very tough fighter, timothy bradley skillful fighter dont get enough respect, abner mares a very good fighter, keith thurman very dangerous, deontay wilder if he keeps developing, golovkin solid fighter, danny garcia if his defense improves, and im not so big on him but andre ward. so if all these guys get promoted right, develop a personality which broner already has and keep improving they can replace floyd. so i give a while list because some things have to fall in place for each one…but broner, lara , mares , canelo would be top of the list.

No one will miss Floyd when he retires, and yes we will see many many more Floyds in the future. He is currently 43-0 and that’s not something impossible to do for future fighters, Broner for example is his way to replacing Floyd.

But how many 8 division champions will we see again? ZERO!! When Pacman retires we won’t see a fighter like that ever again.

@paco ribiani- Floyd decided to fight Marquez and ON PURPOSE he refused to make weight. Floyd knew Marquez would be trouble if both showed up the weight on Friday’s weigh in.

The Great Emanuel Steward said “Floyd easily weigh tonight 158.lbs so Marquez wouldn’t move him around and to neutralize his power too, this was done on purpose!”

I think Floyd could have honestly beaten Marquez even without the added pounds but still Floyd wouldn’t take such a risk and cheated anyways, this shows just what desperate measures Floyd is willing to go to keep his 0. Marquez was too small in first place and that’s how Floyd likes it.

paco rabini you made a big mistake, a little like jeff left hook lacy, joe calzaghe was the best super middleweight ever. They often said he cant punch he slaps, well look at jeff lacys record up till he fought joe & listen to what he said before he fought joe. He cant punch, he slaps. Well let me tell you he slapped jeff lacy around that ring for 12 rounds & don king said after it was the best display of boxing he has ever seen. If you havent seen that fight watch it. He beat them all & would have alwys beaten them all he was the best super middleweight ever.

pacman’s meteoric rise was too much for an envious floid. it smoked him out of his behind…and forced him to return to boxing. even though he was full of crop…he was welcomed by pacman…with open arms.

advice to floidiots. don’t worry if he retires…because there’ll be another pacman to force him back to boxing. with his insecurities, floid can not stand others to shine. as egotistical manic, froid will fight till he’s 80…even entering the ring on a stretcher.

Posted January 8, 2013

Tony

Wladimir Klistschko is the one as long as He continues his devastating and oppressive heavy weigh supremacy Let’s give the Russian the credit and respect He deserves from year 2000 He fought 30 times and only lost 2 fights, Wladimir has dominated the division on a way that I haven’t seen before holding the WBA, WBO,IBF and Ring magazine belts only missing the green WBC just because his older brother has it. Klitschko deserves to be mention honor to whom honor deserves. A real champion in and out the ring, He is a Phd on medicine and a great example for the future generation of boxers.
Ward as a lot f work in front of him and I don’t think He will stay healthy for such as demanding journey on the 160 p division to many good fighter as well we have to understand that the heavier the boxer that harder the punch.
Donaire is moving in a direction where his body size won’t be able to dominate as he has. No way He will be able to stand against taller and heavier guys., sorry but he doesn’t have the genetics.
Broner will be welcome by a division that is full of hungry tigers and lions; Rios, Garcia,Alvarado,Matisse, Maidana, Ortiz, Khan etc .. I don’t think he as enough in the tank

the voice of boxing we will see how loud your voice is soon, now i like gavin rees & i think for a while he will aquit himself, but for how long im not sure but what i am sure of is broner will show you why everyone says he is destined for greatness. There are a few people who stand by their words & are proved right time after time. Occasionally wrong is ok but the difference is we people who follow boxing & we look at what they do, people like pacroids say what they think or wish pac would do & they dont see the truth. They can see it in other fighters but not pinoys.

Posted January 8, 2013

Tony

If Wladimir Klitschko continues his incredible dominance on the queens of all weigh divisions He should be mention more often as the real 4P4 undisputed true King of boxing, lets review 30 fights only 2 losses and destroying every one who faces. He owns WBA, IBF, WBO and ring magazine belts .. The most dominant boxer in the last 10 years in the heavy weigh division a PHD and an amazing human been outside the ring a true example for the future generation of young boxers. We may not see another as dominant as Wladimir in many many years.
Ward, Brooner,Alvarez, Donaire, Martinez, all of them they have a very rough schedule We are living a very competitive era of boxing they are coming from everywhere, Europe, Asia, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Nicargua, Canada and more. We won’t have a 4p4 dominator in a while.

Respect.

So R1 & others please keep it comming it makes reading more pleasurable for me.

douglas burke, well said mate, i enjoyed that very much. Well thought out.

But now i dont see why mayweather should be thinking of retiring yet, he may have another couple or 3 or 4 years left. I think it will depend on how much punnishment he will take in a fight. He certainly wont end up like pacquio getting knocked out like that & still believing it was a lucky punch. He will end up bodily & mentally intact when he retires unlike pac who now when he shakes someones hand just has to grip it, think about it pacroids its very simple. I want & hope to see floyd keep winning & i hope up to 50 or more fights. If i dont get that ill be a little sad, but dont cry for me pinoytina the truth is i never loved you

Come on, Floid defeated a lightweight Marquez while he cheated on the weight limit, wobbled by an old Mosley, sucker punched a green quitter Ortiz, and saw his own blood against a damaged Cotto.

Gavin Rees, I believe in you and “You Can Solve The Problem”.

How to beat Adrien Broner by The Voice Of Boxing!

Gavin Rees, you need to fight like a young Ricky Hatton. Show Broner no respect. Jump on his ass and beat him. Get him on the ropes and just beat that ass. If you make Broner bleed it will slow him down. Take his heart, don’t give him time to set up. Give him a lot of head movement as you come forward. Watch some of Mike Tyson old films and get close to Broner so you can get your punches off. Back him up. Broner don’t like to get hit, make this a ugly fight. “You Can Solve The Problem”.

he’s a boxer you are a brawler , your strength are the peds and roids , MARQUEZ is hard work , he’s better than you. HAVE dignity take the test and fight the best (MAYWEATHER) and retire with more money that’s the more intelligent decision you can make

Posted January 8, 2013

R1 Speed Demon

@slickstyle- uh…yeah there is a way to unlock Broner’s elbow-shoulder roll, Broner has been hit cleanly by straight Lefts (just like Floyd) but not by powerful top fighters as of yet, and like Leonard said about Floyd’s style which Broner mimics is that you have to aim for the temple.

It’s just a matter of time before someone does this, or like Floyd he avoids the fighters that can.

Posted January 8, 2013

douglas burke

1. chris john – nonito donaie winner
2. takashi uchimaya – yuriorkis gamboa winner
3. roman gonzales if he successfully moves up and beats brian viloria
4. gennady glovoken if he beats sergio martinez then beats peter quillen.
5. andre ward has already beaten all the 168 contenders and top 175 pounder
6. winner of canelo vs trout
7. adrien broner beat everyone at 130 except uchimaya then beat top 135 pounder.
8. carlos angel santana a fighter to watch although he has not accomplished anything yet, emphasis on yet.
9. tim bradley
10. winner of denis lebedev vs eddie chambers cruiserweight fight.

The answer to your title question is simple..

His name is …

ADRIEN THE PROBLEM BRONER.

He is the next p4p king.

who ever unlocks Adrien Broners elbow and shoulder roll beats him.

Only 1 problem though

There is no gameplan on how to unlock the elbow and shoulder roll.

Posted January 8, 2013

R1 Speed Demon

Andre Ward is easily the pick for number 1 P4P. Nonito needs to stop fighting guys way smaller than him and actually fight a true Super Bantam, Abner Mares would remove all doubts that Nonito belongs in this list. As of now Nonito should be at number 6 P4P until he beats Mares.

Posted January 8, 2013

R1 Speed Demon

@Matt Lopez- Alexander holding was Bradley’s constant charging head first, Alexander had no choice. He was trying to avoid Bradley’s head but still got hit with it. Bradley knows how to headbutt almost as good as Hopkins, Bradley’s headbutt is notorious in the boxing world, everyone always asked Roach “do you think Bradley will headbutt Manny? What is your strategy on Bradley’s constant headbutting?”

it’s not a coincidence that Alexander got the worst of it and Bradley always walks away from headbutts unscathed. Besides it didn’t matter cause Alexander is not really a good fighter and Bradley would have won anyways without it.

P4P was coined to market smaller fighters as throught boxing history,(except today) most fans preferred middleweights and up.
This P4P simply allowed smaller fighters to make more money which has become a dextroment to the fans who now are dishing out more money than ever to watch fights!

Promoters know how to suck the money right out of our pockets!

@Mayday42- Actually Floyd-M did start out at the same division as Pacman (106- 112 or 115 i think) but he became pro at the 130lbs division. He didn’t really dominate, you can ask Castillo or Floyd about their first fight who many today still believe Floyd lost. Floyd quickly gave Castillo the rematch which Floyd clearly won but still the first fight was robbed from Castillo.

And if (Mr.)Pacman did refer to himself as “Mrs”.Pacman and put on a wig and dress Floyd-M would have easily accepted the fight in 09-2010 because we all know how much Floyd-M loves to punch females! LOL :P

Robert Guerrero will take over when he beats Floyd.

ward is number one. he’s already number 2 or 3 on most p4p lists. the only test for him at 168 is andre dirrell but he hasn’t done squat in three years. and the best at 175 doesn’t look like they have what it takes to beat ward. but ward is injury prone so activity may be an issue. if injury stalls ward’s momentive, andrien broner has what it takes to leapfrog ward to replace floyd. he’s four years younger than ward and is 5 lbs away from a top heavy division than can cement a number one status. matchups with matthysse, rios, garcia and khan can boost broner’s shot at replacing floyd. i believe donaire’s reluctance to face rigondeaux and promotional problems to face mares inhibits him from taking the number one spot.

The title of this article has been mis-printed “who will be the p4p best and face of boxing” after Mayweather Jr has retired.
