By Chris Williams: WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr included a shot of himself relaxing in a hammock today in what he says is Jamaica. Mayweather was amused at the recent news that his fight against Manny Pacquiao is a done deal, which it obviously isn’t Mayweather said that he’s going to continue to travel in his privet jet while they lie about the fight getting made.

”Laying back, relaxing, enjoying good weather, palm trees and piña coladas. While they continue to lie about making the fight… I’m just going to continue to travel and explore the world on my private jet. #FightNotMadeYet #Jamaica,” Mayweather said.

Just who Mayweather meant by saying “they continue to lie about the making the fight” is unclear. It could be aimed at TMZ’s website, as they said the fight was a done deal last night when it clearly wasn’t, or Mayweather could be talking about Pacquiao’s team. They’re not saying the fight is a done deal at least, but they are saying the fight is close to getting made. Mayweather obviously knows how close the fight is to getting made, so perhaps we’re a long ways form the fight being a done deal.

Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum likely has the power to appease Mayweather and give him what he’s looking for in order for him to sign on the dotted line, but the question is will Arum do that?

Tomorrow is the Super Bowl, and that would be the best time to have the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight announced. If Arum, Pacquiao and adviser Michael Koncz aren’t on board with what Mayweather’s asking for in the negotiations then they need to seriously start moving quickly to appease him so that the fight can get made. They don’t need to miss out on the opportunity to take advantage of the 200 million NFL fans that will be watching the Super Bowl clash on Sunday between the New England Patrioys and Seattle Seahawks, because with this amount of fans watching, Mayweather and Pacquiao could get off to a big head start in marketing the fight.

If Koncz is really serious about not wanting to undertake a worldwide tour or even a tour in the U.S to market the fight, then they’re going to need to announce the fight during the Super Bowl in order to let the fans know about the fight. Koncz thinks it’ll be enough to just go to one or maybe two cities in the U.S on the tour, and that’s it. I’m afraid that’s not going to be enough to get fans fully interested in this fight, because Pacquiao has likely lost a lot of fans with his defeats at the hands of Tim Bradley and Juan Manuel Marquez.
