Mayweather: God comes first in my life

floyd002By Chris Williams: Boxing star Floyd Mayweather Jr said that God comes first in his life. He feels that anything is possible with God. Mayweather also admitted that he’s motivated by money which is natural. He wants to strive for a good life for his family and himself. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to make money and live well.

Boxers are basically prizefighters and it makes sense that they’re after the biggest prize when they fight. Mayweather just happens to be gifted with more talent than other fighters.

Plus, Mayweather has a ton of charisma that helps sell. He knows what to say to market his fights and make them huge. As such, Mayweather makes more money than other fighters, and that’s not going to change until he steps away from the game.

On Mayweather’s Instagram he said this to his friend pop star Justin Bieber:

“@JustinBieber Welcome to the Jet Club! Yes, I got a 14 passenger jet. Got to give them another reason to hate, but I will motivate the people that are ambitious and want to be winners in life. I am guilty! I’m materialistic & I’m motivated by money…but GOD is first in my life. GOD will not give you anything you can’t handle. That’s why GOD gave me the best hands in the business to pray with, box with and count money with. #AirMayweather.”

Mayweather has a beautiful jet that he can use to ferry him all around to various places he wants to go to. Of course, Mayweather also has beautiful houses, women, jewelry and a huge fortune, which will soon grow in the next year.

Mayweather is at the point where he doesn’t need to face guys like Manny Pacquiao to make huge money. The fight doesn’t make sense unless the negotiation terms fit Mayweather. Otherwise, Mayweather can face someone else. Having that kind of A-side power is obviously freeing. It enables Mayweather to take fights only if it benefits him. If his opponent tries to push for too much money and such or if they fail to agree to whatever terms that he asks for, then Mayweather can walk and move on.

Mayweather vs. Pacquiao would be a nice fight in 2015. However, the fight can’t be made unless the two sides agree on the money. If Pacquiao and his promoter Bob Arum ask for too much of a cut of the pie then it won’t make sense for Mayweather to take the fight, because Mayweather can always face someone else and make big bank.

You have to look at what’s fair in terms of what both fighters have done with their careers, as well as how much both guys are pulling in with pay-per-view. The big question is does Pacquiao rate a 60-40 split of the cash or is something along the lines of 70-30 or 75-25 a little fairer?
