Floyd Mayweather Jr: “Manny Pacquiao can have the belt”

floyd10By Juan dela Cruz: It seems WBC’s way of trying to make the fight happen by making Manny Pacquiao the number one challenger for Floyd Mayweather Jr’s belt is a total failure. In an interview with Fight Hype, Floyd killed the idea by saying “Everybody’s talking about the title he’s the mandatory. He can have the belt! A belt don’t make me. A belt doesn’t define Floyd Mayweather.” It only meant one thing, as I’ve been saying long before, that the fight is not going to happen!

Floyd even questioned WBC’s choice of Pacquiao being the number one challenger. He insisted that Pacquiao is 1-2 in his last three fights and that his PPV drawing prowess continues to dip lower while Floyd is breaking his own record. Manny’s pay per view buys might have dwindled, but compared to Floyd’s opponent, still, Pacquiao is the only fighter that can give Floyd more than 100 million dollars in just one fight. Yes Pacquiao is 1-2 in his last fights, but among other fighters, Pacquiao is the only one that can give Floyd problems in the ring.

I don’t get it why PPV drawing ability has come into the picture as an issue. Is there anyone not named Mayweather who can draw PPVs bigger than that of Manny? If Manny doesn’t deserve the fight because of his PPVs, then why the heck he fought Cotto, Canelo, Guerrero, Ortiz, Hatton, Marquez etc.? Of course that’s with the exception of Oscar dela Hoya.

And about Manny’s record, whether he’s 1-2 or not, still, Manny is the best option for Floyd compared to any other fighters out there. So therefore, one’s record should not be an issue. And by the way, even his father and uncle believe Manny won the fight against Bradley and was winning six rounds in his fight against Marquez only that, due to his carelessness, he got tagged by Marquez on the dying seconds of round six. It clearly showed that Pac was not really slipping from his former self and he even showed it against Rios. Floyd was also mentioning that Pac went the distance with a lightweight. Whoah! Isn’t it that he also went the distance with a lightweight before even though he never honored the weight agreement? And those people saying Rios is a lightweight (and that includes Floyd) must do some research first. Clearly, this is just another lame excuse for Mayweather to avoid Pacman.

Well, as I’ve been saying before, Floyd will make excuses after excuses and ridiculous demands after demands. All boxing fans in the world, casual or hardcore, all sports enthusiast, promoters, trainers, sanctioning bodies, and everyone involve in boxing, wants Floyd to face Manny. There’s only person in the world who doesn’t want the fight to happen, and that is no other than Floyd Mayweather Jr himself.
