Deontay Wilder still not ranked in top #10 in Ring ratings

wilder4411By Scott Gilfoid: The boxing world was impressed with unbeaten heavyweight contender Deontay Wilder’s sensational 1st round knockout victory over Sergei Liakhovich last Saturday night in Indio, California, but it doesn’t look like the victory did anything for Deontay as far as the Ring ratings goes.

For some reason the Ring ratings still don’t have Deontay in their top 10 of the best heavyweights in the world today. I think that’s crazy. How do you ignore a talent like Deontay, and have a top 10 ranking filled with flawed heavyweights?

Here are the Ring’s top 10 heavyweight rankings:

Champion: Wladimir Klitschko

1. Vitali Klitschko

2. Alexander Povetkin

3. David Haye

4. Kubrat Pulev

5. Tomasz Adamek

6. Ruslan Chagaev

7. Robert Helenius

8. Tyson Fury

9. Tony Thompson

10. Bermane Stiverne

That’s a terrible ranking once you best the top 4 spots. Deontay deserves to be #5 on the list ahead of Adamek, Chagae, Helenius, Fury, Thompson and Stiverne. I mean, I think Deontay should be at #1, because Pulev can’t punch at all, Haye’s too small and would get crushed by Deontay, and the same with Povetkin. Vitali is old, and no longer fighting regularly. He should be demoted for that reason alone.

I don’t see Fury as a top 10 heavyweight or even close to being one, so he’d be off my list entirely. I feel the same way about Chagaev and Adamek. I don’t believe in those guys, and I just see them as guys that are carefully matched against fighters that are made for them.

Here’s my list of what I feel are the best heavyweights in the world, and I think my list a heck of a lot better than The Ring’s.

Champion: Wladimir Klitschko

1. Deontay Wilder

2. Magomed Abdusalov

3. Tony Thompson

4. Bermane Stiverne

5. Kubrat Pulev

6. David Haye

7. Alexander Povetkin

8. Bryant Jennings

9. Andy Ruiz

10. Chris Arreola

Like I said, I don’t see Vitali, Fury, Adamek, and Chagaev as top 10 heavyweights for various reasons, so they didn’t make my list as the best heavyweights in the world.
