The fight is laughable, and it’s disappointing to see Adamek stoop to facing older, shot fighters in order to work his way back to another title shot. Adamek recently got a title shot against WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko by facing the following fighters: 42-year-old Andre Golota, 39-year-old Michael Grant, 38-year-old Vinny Maddalone and 38-year-old Kevin McBride.

With wins over those heavyweights, Adamek was given a high ranking by the sanctioning bodies and he was able to fight WBC champion Vitali last September in a 10th round stoppage loss in Poland. Since losing to Vitali, Adamek has beaten 2nd tier fighter Nagy Aguilera and a ring rusty Eddie Chambers. The Chambers fight is interesting in that Chambers injured his left bicep in the 1st round and had to fight the remainder of the fight using only his right hand. Oddly enough, Chambers dominated Adamek with just his right hand, making look old and slow. For 35, Adamek has really slowed down. Some of that could be because he’s put on 10 pounds recently, thinking it would make him a stronger puncher. It doesn’t look like it has unfortunately, but it does appear to have made him nice and slow as we saw in the Chambers fight.

Toney’s career has been sputtering along on a downward spiral since losing two fights to Samuel Peter back in 2006 and 2007. The only wins Toney has gotten since then have come against 2nd tier opposition. Toney was beaten by Denis Lebedev last year in November. In his last fight, Toney defeated Bobby Gunn by a 5th round stoppage.
