What strategy will Ward use?
By John F. McKenna (McJack): Saturday night will see the culmination of the much heralded Super Six Tournament at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City when undefeated American World Boxing Association (WBA) super middleweight champion Andre Ward (24-0, 13 KO’s) faces off against the tough Brit WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch (28-1, 20 KO’s).
Ward has faced Edison Miranda, Mikkel Kessler, Allan Green, Sakio Bika and Arthur Abraham. He has dominated all of his opponents and has looked impressive in doing so. He is one of those fighters who because of his skill has lost very few rounds.
Froch is an awkward defensive fighter and, although not a defensive genius, he has the ability to roll with punches, thereby reducing their effectiveness. Opponents find it difficult to land their punches against him with full power. In addition Carl is proficient at slipping punches. He has the ability to take his adversary’s best punches and still come forward to continue administering punishment to his foe.
Ward will most likely employ a strategy of using his superior technical skills as a boxer to confuse Froch. The Ward camp is fully aware that Mikkel Kessler and Andre Dirrell gave Froch a great deal of difficulty because they were able to outbox him.
Ward will attempt to get off to an early lead by using his faster hands to pile up points. He will use lateral movement to keep Froch at bay and will almost certainly go to the body to take some of the steam out of his punches. Ward has the rare ability to change gears in the middle of a fight. He has a very high boxer IQ and listens attentively to his trainer’s instructions.
Andre is fully award that Froch’s only chance at being successful is to turn the fight into a brawl. Froch will undoubtedly target Ward’s eye that was injured in training a couple of months ago.
Ward will most likely have too much skill for Froch to handle, but in any case both Ward and Froch are two very talented fighters who will give their all in what is hoped to be an entertaining fight.

ward strategy – run for a few rounds, then use head and elbows to cause as much damage as possible. then hopefully get a points decision by the bent judges
Calzaghe would batter them both
i always tought that froch was not that good but in the last 4 fights he show the world that he belong to the elite of boxing.ward does not have the best style or the power that he will need to take out a warrior like froch. i think there is 50% chances that ward championchip days will end tonight by the hands of froch.
Glen Johnson is a knowlegable boxer but Froch was able to avoid anything Glen could come up with except a few right hands. I don’t think it’s a given that Ward will be able to dominate Froch through his boxing skills. If anything, I think Froch’s arkward style will present something to Ward he hasn’t seen before.
I think we’re going to witness a real war Sat night. Both men are determined and tough with skills to match. My hope is to see a lot of Englishmen wailing on this site Sun morning but I wouldn’t bet against Froch either.
several of the commentars told you the strategy. Ward while effective is about as fan unfriendly as you can get. I hope Froch can do something to make this interesting but I doubt it.
Ward rules the division that it he is that good haaaaaaaa
Definition of Slick boxer: running, hugging, shoving, elbowing.
That’s the style of Floyd, Hopkins and Ward.
Ward’s strategy is simple: jab, jab, straight, headbutt, hold and repeat. It’s a shame Ward resorts to dirty tactics he’s obviously technically very proficient but chooses not to make the most of his potential. Just like Hopkins, dirty but it gets the job done.
Hold with one hand, throw with other. hold, hold, hold, hold, hold.
Modern day “Inside fighting”
Pathetic.
Head butt Hold
Stick that tounge periodicly like a serpent Son Of God.
