Khan and his management appealed his 12 round decision loss to the IBF, WBA and the Washington State Athletic Commission to try and get the results overturned or at the minimum to force Peterson to give Khan an immediate rematch. According to Dan Rafael, the IBF will not be ordering Peterson to fight Khan again.

There’s still no word about whether Khan will have any luck getting the decision overturned, but you have to imagine that the chances aren’t good because there isn’t anything controversial about the bout. Khan had 2 points taken away for pushing off and he was clearly pushing off all throughout the fight, even after having been penalized for the second time in the fight.

The World Boxing Association still hasn’t given their views on the fight, so Khan still has a chance that they’ll order Peterson to fight Khan immediately and/or overturn the results and give the win to Khan.

In an interview at eastsideboxing.com, Peterson said he’s interested in fighting Khan again, so it may not require the IBF or WBA to force Peterson because he’ll likely gladly take the fight. Khan and his management obviously are just making sure they get the fight as soon as possible. However, if you look at it from Peterson’s perspective, why would he want to fight anyone other than Khan next? After all, Khan is the most popular fighter in the division and it seems kind of senseless for Peterson to take on a less popular fighter for less money.

Richard Schafer, the CEO of Golden Boy Promotions and the promoter for Khan, is looking at May 19th for the date of the Khan-Peterson rematch. Unlike last time, Peterson is in a good position to get better terms in the negotiations this time around with Khan. He’ll likely get at least a 50-50 deal with Khan.
