Pacquiao Still Won’t Admit How Great Cotto is

pac5735689By Manuel Perez: Manny Pacquiao still stubbornly is not admitting how great of a fighter he’s facing in Miguel Cotto. At yesterday’s press conference at the Beverly Hills Hotel, Pacquiao had this to say about Cotto: “He’s one of the best fighters in the world, not the best fighter.” You notice how Pacquiao had to throw in the last part where he said “not the best fighter.”

Pacquiao just won’t admit that he’s facing one of the greatest fighters in the world, and possibly the best of the bunch. Cotto is going to prove that he’s the best fighter by tattooing his boxing gloves to Pacquiao’s mug on the November 14th. And then Pacquiao’s fans can cry about it afterwards, and come up with some lame excuse for him losing.

But I honestly think that losing is the best thing that could happen to Pacquiao. He needs to be knocked down a peg, put in his place so that he can learn to be a more humble fighter. I think that would be good for him. Next time when his trainer Freddie Roach snaps his fingers telling Pacquiao it’s time to start training camp, Pacquiao will maybe be wise enough to drop his commercial endorsements and fly on over to Mexico where Pacquiao can get some good training for a change.

He’s not going to get trained correctly in the Philippines, are you kidding me? The Filipino’s are going to be crawling all over that camp vying for Pacquioa’s attention. It’s going to be one big zoo for Roach, and he’s going to be like the official zoo keeper, except he won’t have anything to control the mass hordes of backside kissers that are going to be waiting on Pacquiao with baited breath.

I feel sorry for Roach. But it’s all good. Pacquiao won’t get the training he needs, he’ll Las Vegas on November 14th, and get royally beaten by Cotto. Then, maybe then, Pacquiao will admit how great Cotto is and learn something’s about humility. Pacquiao probably thinks that he’s the best fighter in the world right now. I guess I can’t blame him. He’s been having smoke blown up his backside for long it’s not even funny.

Pacquiao is going to be in for a rude awakening when he gets in the ring with Cotto. I hope Pacquiao takes his beating like a man and doesn’t crumble to pieces like some fighters. I can’t stand that when they up and quit or make never ending excuses , saying “I’m just taking a long rest from boxing.” In other words, you’re mentally shattered from the defeat and have fallen back into the infant stage of development.

I hope that doesn’t happen to Pacquiao. If it happened to me, I would want someone to put me out of my misery so that I wouldn’t be a burden to mankind. A loss like the one that Pacquiao will be suffering at the hands of Cotto will be a real brutal blow to Pacquiao’s psyche no doubt. Here he is thinking one thing, and then Pacquiao goes out and gets destroyed by a fighter like Cotto.

It would like Pacquiao would have to start all over again to try and figure who he is as a fighter. The thing of it is, if Pacquiao listened to me, I’d tell who he is, and then there would no problem for Pacquiao after he gets destroyed by Cotto. I’d tell Pacquiao, ‘Pacquiao, you’re a good fighter. You’ve beaten some small guys and proven somewhat that you’re the ruler of the roost in the lighter weight classes, except for when you fought Juan Manuel Marquez, but you’ve been something of a cherry-picker since you started moving up in weight. You’re not that good. You’re going to get killed when you face Cotto, Antonio Margarito, Paul Williams and Floyd Mayweather, so accept that, okay?’
