Hughie Fury vs. Dominick Guinn tonight

hughie545By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten heavyweight prospect Hughie Fury (18-0, 10 KOs) will be fighting tonight against the rusty 40-year-old journeyman Dominick Guinn (35-10-1, 24 KOs) in a scheduled 10 round bout on the undercard of the Nick Blackwell v. Chris Eubank Jr. card at the Wembley Arena in London, UK.

The once slender Guinn weighed in at a career high 254.5 pounds at Friday’s weigh-in, and that’s obviously not a good sign for Guinn. He’s only had two fights in the last three years, and he didn’t fight at all in 2014, and had just one fight in 2015. Guinn’s best weight was in the low 220s many years ago.

Hughie Fury vs. Dominic Guinn on March 26

fury433By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten heavyweight prospect Hughie Fury (18-0, 10 KOs) will be facing replacement opponent 40-year-old Dominic Guinn(35-10-1, 24 KOs) this Saturday night on the undercard of the Nick Blackwell vs. Chris Eubank Jr. at the Wembley Arena in London, UK.

The 22-year-old Hughie was supposed to be fighting the 29-year-old Nagy Aguilera, but he pulled out due to an injury of some sort. Hughie’s management then found the journeyman Guinn to step in with less than a week’s notice. A good fight this is not. The only positive you can say about Guinn as an opponent is the fact that he’s got a good chin and will likely be able to go the full 10 round distance.

If Hughie is interested in scoring a knockout in this fight, then he might want to think twice. Guinn will have no problems taking Hughie’s light punches. If Hughie gets too bold, he might wind up getting knocked out for his troubles.

Dillian Whyte vs. Dominick Guinn on September 12th in London, UK

whyte555By Scott Gilfoid: Undefeated heavyweight prospect Dillian Whyte (15-0, 12 KOs) will taking on the well-known American heavyweight Dominick Guinn (35-10-1, 24 KOs) in an Important 10 round bout on the undercard of the Anthony Joshua vs. Gary Cornish card on September 12th at the O2 Arena in London, UK.

The reason why the Whyte-Guinn fight is so important is because Whyte needs a win over Guinn in order to face the 6’6” Joshua in a big fight on December 12th. Whyte, 27, can write his own ticket if he can beat Guinn and Joshua in back to back fights. That would put Whyte within striking distance of a world title fight against the likes of WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder in 2016.

Stevens KOs Roman; Adamek schools Guinn; Mchunu tops Chambers

roman2By Jim Dower: Middleweight contender #6 IBF, #10 WBC, Curtis Stevens (25-3, 18 KO’s) may have set himself up with a title shot against WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin by destroying the hard hitting Saul Roman (37-10, 31 KO’s) in a 1st round knockout in a night full of mismatches on Saturday night at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut.

Stevens dropped Roman twice with big left hooks to the head. After the 2nd knockdown, which left Roman flat on his back on the canvas and badly hurt, the fight was then halted at 2:26. In winning the fight, Stevens captured the vacant NABF middleweight title.

Tomasz Adamek faces Dominick Guinn tonight in Uncasville, Connecticut

adamek45By Eric Thomas: Former two division world champion Tomasz Adamek (48-2, 29 KO’s) will be facing 38-year-old Dominick Guinn (34-9-1, 23 KO’s) in a fight that promises to be an ugly mismatch at the Mohegan Sun Casino, in Uncasville, Connecticut.

This unfortunately is kind of par for the course for the 36-year-old Adamek, as he’s put his career in the slow lane since his 10th round stoppage loss to WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko two years ago in September 2011.

Adamek wants to get another title shot, but he’s turned down the important fights against Kubrat Pulev and Tyson Fury that would have put him in position to fight for another world title.

Guinn wants a shot at Wladimir Klitschko

Image: Guinn wants a shot at Wladimir KlitschkoBy Jim Dower: You can add 35-year-old journeyman heavyweight Dominick Guinn (33-6-1, 22 KO’s) to the list of fighters that want to get a crack at IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (55-3, 49 KO’s) in his next fight on December 11th. It seems like they’re coming out of the woodwork now that Klitschko is actively searching for an opponent to fight. Normally, Klitschko has someone in mind immediately from fight to fight and doesn’t have a long time to decide upon his next opponent.
