By Allan Fox: IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin says he doesn’t plan on letting his fight against British fighter Kell “Special K” Brook go to a decision on September 10. Golovkin doesn’t want to let the judges decide his fight, which is why he intends on going after the 30-year-old Brook to get the knockout.

Golovkin isn’t bothered about the UK fans cheering for Brook, because he plans on during it into a “drama show” to entertain the British fans by looking to slug with Brook at every opportunity.

Golovkin says if Brook stands in front of him, he will beat him and finish him off. If Brook moves around, Golovkin says it will take him a little bit longer but he’ll still get to him and knock him out.

Brook’s weight of 175lbs doesn’t worry Golovkin at all, because he’s about the same size as him. It won’t help him.

Golovkin says he’s been working on speed with his three sparring partners that have been brought in to help him get ready for his September 10 fight at the O2 Arena in London, England.

“This training camp is changed. Abel [Sanchez] has brought a new strategy, a new style,” said Golovkin to Fighthub.com. “It’s for speed. I think it’s very good. It’s not difficult. It’s a different style, because Abel said maybe we need a decision fight. He brings very good sparring partner. I have three sparring partners, very good guys. For Kell Brook [fight], this is a good experience for decision, because he’s a good boxer, he’s moving. He’s small. It’s not just first round try to beat him, knock him down. I want. I like my style, drama show. I understand I need decision fight; different size, different speed, different style. We’re going to the UK, everything is different. If he stands in front of me, I think he’s finished. I beat him. If he’s moving, I think it’ll be a little bit longer, maybe not a decision fight; maybe 10 rounds, 8 rounds. I just need a couple of rounds to understand my strategy, change. I find him. I saw him, 176. That’s no problem. He’s size like me, maybe a little bit shorter, maybe five-foot nine, five-foot eight. I think no problem for me. I like fights, to bring special for fans, to the UK fans, big drama show, bring big drama show. I not give him a chance for a decision. I think I beat him,” said Golovkin.

It sounds like Golovkin is a little conflicted. On one hand, he talks about his trainer Abel Sanchez wanting him to try for a decision, but on the other hand, he still seems committed to slugging it out to try and get a knockout of Brook. In this case, I think it might be better off if Golokvin shoots for a knockout, because if it goes to the scorecards, he might wind up getting robbed. The fight is in the UK, and Brook will have the large crowd of 20,000 firmly supporting him from start to finish. Even if the rounds aren’t particularly close, Brook might wind up winning them. He’s going to have the cheering and this could cause impressionable judges to be influenced by the noise.

It sounds like it’s going to be a very difficult fight Brook to try and deal with Golovkin’s pressure and punching power in this fight. If Brook chooses to slug, he’s going to need to bring a lot of power to keep Golovkin off of him. It might not help him if he chooses to move a lot because Golovkin has been training to deal with movement in this fight. Movement is not something that will help Brook. If Brook chooses to tie Golovkin up frequently, it’s probably not going to work either because Golovkin has obviously been working on that took.

When it’s all said and done, Brook may need to go back to what’s brought him here in the first place by punching with Golovkin and hoping that his power is enough to hurt him like it has many of Brook’s past opponents. If Brook is too defensive in this fight, then it’s going to be difficult for him to get a decision, because the judges will reward the more aggressive fighter Golovkin.
