Sunny perhaps feels that he’s got this one already in the bag and doesn’t need to play any additional mind games to get under the skin of the Chilean Campo because he’s already done enough on that end.

If Sunny wins on Saturday, he’ll face WBO flyweight champion Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez in a unification fight. That’s the one Sunny and his promoter Eddie Hearn look forward to.

Campos ready to dethrone Edwards

“He’s different, and he’s a character. That’s what I like,” said Eddie Hearn to Matchroom Boxing, talking about Sunny Edwards. “He’s full of energy; he’s cheeky; he’s controversial. Sometimes he says stupid things.

“You don’t have to like him. You can hate him as well, but understand one thing; he’s a pound-for-pound great fighter. Campos looks quite chilled,” Hearn continued. “It was a long, long head-to-head. He has a lot of support over here from Chile.

“It’s going to be giving everything, but I don’t believe he’ll be on Sunny Edwards’ level, but I think he’ll give us a great fight. He’ll push him all the way, and if Sunny is overlooking Campos and is thinking about [Jesse] Rodriguez or Julio Martinez, it could be difficult for him tomorrow night. I want him to shine.

“He’s [Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez] is recovering from his broken jaw, so he won’t be here, but we are negotiating with him and Robert Garcia. They want the fight, and they want to go straight into that fight.

“Sunny has signed a contract with us where he’s accepted all those fights. The money and everything is done. So all we have to do is find a way to get one of the champions in with Sunny next, so that is what we must do.

“Let’s see him beat Campos first, and let’s see him do it in style. It’s so nice to sign a fighter where you don’t have to negotiate those big fights. So you sit down, and the money is there for Sunny to fight Jesse Rodriguez and Dalakian.

“So after Saturday, when I’m talking to the other champions, I don’t need to have a conversation with Sunny Edwards other than to say, ‘It’s done, and this is the date.’ Not, ‘Actually, I was thinking about it and that’s a big fight. If it’s away, it’s at home.’

“He just said, ‘I’m in. This is the money I want. You give me that money, I’ll go where you want,’ and that’s what Sunny Edwards is all about. Legacy, big fights, championships, and trying to dominate the division,” said Hearn.
