By Allan Fox: Lightweight Rod Salka (19-4, 3 KOs) will be back in the ring on November 14th against 33-year-old Monty Meza Clay (36-3, 22 KOs) in a scheduled 10 round bout at the CONSOL Energy Center, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA.

This is going to be a fight between two Pennsylvania fighters. Salka, 31, was a virtual unknown until recently when he took on and was destroyed by WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia last August in a 2nd round knockout loss in a non-title fight at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

The WBA and WBC chose not to sanction the Garcia-Salka fight after a huge amount of criticism erupted over Salka being a 2nd tier fighter in a weight division below Garcia. Garcia said that Salka would be a tough opponent, but he folded as quickly as many boxing fans expected him to. Salka looked much smaller than Garcia in the ring, and it was clear from the opening bell that he didn’t have the size to compete with him.

Salka won’t have to worry too much about being the smaller guy when he gets in the ring with the 5’2” Clay on November 14th because he’s going to have a 5 inch height advantage over him. However, that doesn’t mean that Salka will much of an advantage in the fight because Clay is the bigger puncher of the two, and the guy with a better resume.

Clay, 33, has been in the ring with guys like Fernando Beltran, Jorge Solis and Edner Cherry. Clay has won his last 7 fights since his loss to Beltran in 2009. In Clay’s last fight, he defeated Allan Herrera by a 10th round stoppage.
