Image: Price vs. Skelton & Fury vs. Johnson fight predictionsBy Scott Gilfoid: We’ve got a couple of British heavyweight bouts coming up on Friday and Saturday this starting with an utterly dreadful mismatch between unbeaten British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion David Price (14-0, 12 KO’s) against his 45-year-old opponent Matt Skelton (28-6, 23 KO’s) at the Aintree Equestrian Centre, Liverpool, Merseyside, United Kingdom.

Price, 29, has every advantage under the sun in this fight, and it’s just so terribly sad that Price is still being matched up against opposition like this at his age. 29 isn’t young, and there seems to be a problem with his promoter not stepping him up against quality opposition.

When I see a fighter as old as Price still being matched against 40-year-olds that tells me that something might have happened in sparring sessions with the guy to make his promoter timid about putting him in with actual live bodies. I just wonder if Price got stretched a few times by sparring partners in the past, because he should have been well past guys like Skelton a long, long time ago.

Skelton’s only chance in this fight is to pull an all out attack on Price’s chin in the 1st round and hope to strike pay dirty with that kind of attack. That’s kind of the only way Skelton can win this fight. Do I see him doing that? No. Skelton will play it safe and get knocked out for his lack of aggression anyway.

Prediction: Price 3rd round TKO.

In a far better bout, this one on Saturday night, unbeaten heavyweight contender Tyson Fury (19-0, 14 KO’s) will be meeting up with talented American Kevin Johnson (28-6, 23 KO’s) at the Odyssey Arena, in Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom. Fury wanted the fight to take place in Belfast for who knows why. He’s from England and I don’t really see the logic of fighting in Northern Ireland.

I can’t picture an American going to Canada to fight just for the heck of it, and I can’t understand Fury fighting in Northern Ireland. Whatever the case, Fury is really up against it in this fight with Johnson because this can fight and he’s good enough to beat Fury with his jab alone.

If Johnson keeps the fight in the center of the ring and stays on the outside, he’s going to shut Fury’s eyes with his jabs and probably cut him up something fierce. I can see this one going really badly Fury to where they may need to pull him out of there. Johnson is the bigger puncher at any distance and the much more experienced fighter.

Prediction: Johnson by 9th round TKO.
