This is an excellent total of just a minimum, because Pacquiao’s fights have been hitting below that.

If the Mayweather vs. Ortiz PPV numbers can shoot up to 1.7 million PPV buys then it puts Pacquiao in terrible shape to ask for a 50-50 deal for a fight with Mayweather. There’s little chance of Pacquiao getting a 50-50 deal if he’s not bringing in the same PPV numbers. It matters little whether Pacquiao brings in more boxing fans to the fight itself.

What matters is who the PPV king is and if Mayweather once again outsells Pacquiao then it’ll be clear that Mayweather is the bigger money maker of the two. The importance of that is it puts Mayweather in the driver’s seat for getting a bigger cut of the revenue for a fight against the Filipino. Unfortunately, a fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao will never happen once Mayweather’s PPV numbers are announced.

Once it’s clear that Mayweather is the bigger seller, he’ll likely never accept a 50-50 deal with Pacquiao. Why should he? If you’re outselling another fighter, you don’t give them equal pay. If Pacquiao isn’t willing to accept a 60-40 deal, then so be it. Mayweather can always find someone else that will take even less than that just to get a nice payday.

As for Pacquiao, he can finish up his career fighting guys like Timothy Bradley, Mike Jones, Brandon Rios and Miguel Cotto. Mayweather will dominate the welterweight division and make a bundle each time he fights. Mayweather doesn’t need Pacquiao at this point in his career to make huge money.
