Image: Malignaggi-Senchenko for $29.95 on PPV on 4/29By Dan Ambrose: If you’ve got a real big urge to see Paulie Malignaggi (30-4, 6 KO’s) fight for the WBA World welterweight title against champion Vyacheslav Senchenko (32-0, 21 KO’s) on April 29th and you happen to live in the United States, then you’ve got the option of watching the fight on pay-per-view for a measly $29.95 on Integrated Sports Media on cable and satellite PPV.

It’s difficult for me to imagine paying to see Malignaggi fight because he hasn’t fought a fought a quality opponent in two years and that was when he was easily beaten by Amir Khan by an 11th round TKO defeat in May of 2010. Malignaggi has fought three times since then, beating the following welterweights: Michael Lozada, Jose Miguel Cotto and Orlando Lora. None of them were a threat to Malignaggi and now he’s fighting on PPV after being given a high ranking of #2 by the World Boxing Association.

I wouldn’t mind paying to see Malignaggi fight for the title if he proved himself against at least one good welterweight like Kell Brook, who happens to be ranked below him, Devon Alexander or Thomas Dulorme, both of which are also ranked below Malignaggi by the WBA’s ranking. I think it goes without saying that Malignaggi would likely lose all three of those fights by knockout. He doesn’t beat Alexander, and he surely doesn’t beat Brook. Dulorme would have a great chance of knocking Malignaggi out with one punch.

Malignaggi will be fighting in the Ukrainian Senchenko’s home country at the Donbass Arena in Donestski in Ukraine. Malignaggi believes it could be tough for him to win a decision there, but he’s going to have problems beating a fighter like Senchenko anywhere they would stage. They could put this fight on the East Coast in the United States and Malignaggi would still be in big trouble. He doesn’t match up well with Senchenko.
