The fight could be the last bout of the soon to be 41-year-old Vitali’s career.

Boxing fans in general are pretty disappointed in this match-up, as they expected Vitali to end his career with a bang by taking on a quality opponent instead of possibly going out with a whimper if Charr does turn out to be the last fight of Vitali’s career.

What’s really disappointing is that Vitali has other options available to him instead of just Charr. Vitali, if he wanted to, could fight David Haye, Dereck Chisora, Kubrat Pulev, Alexander Povetkin, Marco Huck, Seth Mitchell or Tyson Fury in his last fight. I’d personally prefer to see Vitali face any one of those guys than seeing him destroy the unbeaten Charr. The Charr fight is going to be too easy for Vitali, because Charr has looked mediocre in beating the likes of Danny Williams, Marcelo Luiz Nasimento and Taras Bydenko, to name just a few of the opponents he’s fought and failed to shine against.

Vitali has been pretty much a terrible disappointment as the World Boxing Council champion after capturing the WBC title in 2008. Recently, Vitali sees to have gone after weaker opposition such as Albert Sosnowski, Shannon Briggs, Kevin Johnson and Dereck Chisora rather than taking on really serious threats. Perhaps this is why boxing fans are so disappointed that he’s decided to face the 27-year-old Charr for his next and possible last fight of his career. Boxing fans have seen one too many weak opponents for Vitali, and don’t want to see him fight yet another one in Charr.

The theory floated around by some is that Vitali selected an easy opponent in order to look good in front of his home fans in Kiev, Ukraine. He’s about to run for Parliament in Ukraine and cannot afford to look bad and/or get beaten. As such, an easy opponent like Charr almost guarantees that Vitali will end his career on a winning note, if he does decide to retire after that fight.
