Kessler vs. Froch 2 is going to happen

By Mikkel Mikkelsen: Recently I’ve noticed a lot of talk about whether or not the second fight between Mikkel Kessler and Carl Froch is going to happen. In addition to that, I’ve read that there people who have some doubt about it taking place, Therefore I felt like posting my thoughts on it. I personally don’t understand why people doubt it.

Of course it’s going to happen, people. And it’s going to happen in England. First of all, yes, Adonis Stevenson is Froch’s mandatory challenger but that is actually as far as that goes. Because, yes, usually a champion at the IBF (Which is where Carl “The Cobra” Froch is the current champion) has 9 months from the day he wins the title until the day he has to fight his mandatory challenger. BUT it’s not the case when the champion at IBF fights for another title for a unification bout.

In that case the IBF champion is allowed an exception in order to fight the unification title fight first and postpone the mandatory challenger fight. This is exactly the case we have here with Froch vs. Mikkel Kessler.

Kessler has the WBA World Super Middleweight championship belt, whereas Froch has the IBF Super Middleweight championship belt. So the fight is defiantly being accepted by the IBF. Next up there has been some talk from the Froch camp about being a bit unsure on Kessler and team Sauerland, due to the fact that they take their time responding to the final details to seal the deal on the fight.

Well come on, relax. Of course it’s going to happen and it’s going to be an awesome fight between two great fighters who are ranked as the second and third best fighters at Super Middleweight (To each our own to judge who fits which spot). The only reason Team Sauerland and Kessler drags the final details on the fight a bit is of course to get as many advantages as possible, along with as good a Prize purse as possible, which is now on 2 million pounds for each fighter. Eddie Hearns just hypes the fight even more by saying what he says. It’s all a part of the game, guys.

Kessler vs. Froch 2 is going to happen. No way is Kessler going to refuse a 2 million pound payday along with the possibility to win the IBF Championship belt. Give it a few weeks and I’m sure we are going to hear that the fight is 100 % agreed on along with a date for the match.

I’m for one looking am looking forward to watching this fight. It’s going to be a blast between those two great fighters. Feel free to leave your replay and thoughts on this upcoming fight.
