Kessler, 33, knocked the 37-year-old Magee down twice in the fight with body shots, once in the 2nd and another time in the 3rd, to get the stoppage. Magee was hurt several more times from hard body shots from Kessler in the 2nd round after going down from a right to the body.

Before that, Magee had been doing quite nicely, landing hard left hands and keeping Kessler fighting in a cautious manner. However, after Kessler knocked Magee down with a right to the body in the 2nd, Magee was never the same. Kessler then went right body happy and threw nothing but body shots.

Near the end of the round, Kessler hurt Magee again with a right to the body that caused Magee to turn his back to Kessler and walk to to the corner in pain. It looked like he was quitting but he was given a standing eight count. In the 3rd round, Kessler knocked Magee down with a body shot and the fight was halted.
