Image: Dawson-Pascal looking likely for June in CanadaBy Peter Wells: After defending his World Boxing Council Light Heavyweight title a second time in a rematch with Adrian Diaconu, in which he dislocated his shoulder 3 times. So that means he will need a good time out of the gym.

So hopefully- and I know it’s a long time away, but it will be worth the wait- we should be set up for a great Light Heavy showdown between two of the best in the division, and hopefully the winner will be up against either Bernard Hopkins or Tavoris Cloud. Now Dawson can have a break from fighting two old dogs in Glen Johnson and Antonio Tarver and fight for the title he once held against a young and no doubt great fighter who could spell big trouble. Dawson will have a long wait, and may get a bit rusty but just as long as he stays in good condition till the training comes along he should be in peak condition by fight night.

Both fighters are well built and Dawson showed against Glen Johnson in their first encounter he can take a punch, and Dawson has a solid chin indeed taking heavy punches from big hitting Carl Froch and both times against Diaconu. Both fighters are used to going the distance; Dawson has been the full 12 in his last 4 while Pascal 3 of his last 5. So both fighters can keep a good pace, maybe Pascal more as he has been in more wars than Chad. However the fight ends it shouldn’t be one to miss and will finally add some flair back in the younger generation of the Light Heavyweight division.
