Dawson-Diaconu – A better fight than Hopkins-Pascal 2

By Dan Ambrose: The undercard fight between two-time light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson (29-1, 17 KO’s) and Adrian Diaconu (27-2, 15 KOs) should be the much better fight compared to the stinker in the main event between Bernard Hopkins and WBC light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal.

The first Pascal-Hopkins bout last year was painful to watch because of how boring it was, but because of the high ratings for the fight and with the WBC demanding that Pascal fight an immediate rematch, we’re going to have to sit through this rematch.

It’s going to be likely as boring as the first fight with a lot of inside action with wrestling and running. That fight will be the walk out fight after the action in the Dawson-Diaconu bout. Dawson is considered to be the best fighter in the light heavyweight division by many boxing fans, including this writer.

For the past three years, Dawson has looked exceptional in beating fighters like Glen Johnson and Antonio Tarver two times each. Now with Emanuel Steward joining Dawson to work as his trainer, we’re going to see an even better Dawson than before.

You can expect Dawson to be more offensively minded with him throwing many more punches and jumping on Diaconu early for a real tear up bout. This is going to be Dawson’s time to shine and reestablish himself as the best fighter in the division. I don’t know who will win the Hopkins-Pascal fight, but whoever the winner is, they’re going to have serious problems trying to deal with Dawson’s fast hands and excellent boxing skills.
