By Jake Tiernan: Katie Taylor will give it another try, challenging the bigger, stronger & younger undisputed female light welterweight champion Chantelle Cameron in a rematch later this year on November 25th at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland. The event will be shown live on DAZN.
The likely rationale for Cameron, the champion, returning to Dublin rather than staging the fight in England is because it can make money over there. Taylor is an icon in Ireland, with a massive fan base that she can count on to scoop up tickets to watch the fight quickly.
Hopefully, there’s no controversy with the outcome of this match-up, as English fans will be screaming bloody murder if Taylor is given a gift decision in her hometown. You can imagine the anger there will be if there’s a robbery on the night.
Agreeing to fight in Dublin again, Cameron is willing to take the risk of potentially winding up on the receiving end of a questionable decision. That’s even more of a reason for Cameron to give it her all to make sure the rounds aren’t close and, ideally, to score a knockout.
Cameron defeated Taylor by a 10 round majority decision earlier this year by the scores 96-94, 96-94, and 95-95. This writer had Cameron winning 8-2, and it wasn’t close due to her heavy shots that she was tagging the volume puncher Taylor with all night.
The rematch makes sense in terms of business, but not so much the close scores, considering that many fans that watched the contest felt it was a dominant performance by Cameron, and it was in no way a close affair as the judges scored it.

To go over to Ireland for her homecoming with my belts on the line and beat her was a brilliant experience, but beating her on November 25 will surpass that as I know what to expect now.”
While this fight will likely be ignored entirely by U.S. fans, it’ll attract a lot of interest from people in the UK who follow these two and will be on pins & needles on the night, pulling for either.
The previously unbeaten 37-year-old Taylor showed her age & lack of power last May, losing a ten round majority decision to the younger, bigger & stronger 32-year-old Cameron (18-0, 8 KOs) in Dublin.
Again, the judges scored it as a closer, but it appeared that Cameron dominated with her pressure & powers against the crowd favorite Taylor, who had dodged a bullet last year, winning a highly controversial 10 round split decision over American Amanda Serrano in Nee York.
Although Serrano was the U.S. fighter, the crowd was pro-Taylor, as New York has many boxing fans whose ancestors came from Ireland.
