By Scott Gilfoid: American heavyweight Malik Scott (36-2-1, 13 KO’s) doesn’t know where people are coming from with their speculation that he took a dive in the 1st round in getting knocked out by the 6’7″ contender Deontay Wilder (31-0, 31 KO’s) last Saturday night in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. Malik says that his knockout loss to the powerful Deontay was a direct result of a left hook that nailed him on the temple.
The shot that Deontay landed against Scott would have likely knocked out anyone in the division due to the perfect extension and placement that he got into the punch. Not only did Deontay get full extension on his huge 83″ reach, but he also placed the punch perfectly to the right temple area of Scott. Deontay placed that punch like a surgeon to an area where the chances of Scott surviving the punch was slim and none.
