By Scott Gilfoid: Heavyweight Jameel McCline says he sees unbeaten heavyweight prospect Deontay Wilder (25-0, 25 KO’s) as a future great after spending time with him working as sparring partners in the camp of IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko recently before his fight with Martiusz Wach.
McCline said on his twitter page “Bronzebomber [Deontay Wilder] is the next great thing. Seen him give the champ W Klitschko great work. I told him take your time. He will listen.”
McCline knows talent when he sees it, as he’s been in boxing for a long time and he’s seen a lot of different heavyweights over the years. He’s not jump complimenting Wilder for the heck of it. He speaks the truth because he knows what kind of talent Wilder has after watching him work out with Wladimir.
Deontay Wilder now the #1 heavyweight in the U.S
By Scott Gilfoid: With the 2nd round knockout loss of previously undefeated Seth Mitchell last Saturday night at the hands of Johnathon Banks, it leaves undefeated Deontay Wilder (25-0, 25 KO’s) as the top #1 heavyweight in the United States. I never saw Mitchell as a better heavyweight than Wilder, but now that we’ve seen him get exposed by Banks it’s now academic that Wilder is the top guy.
This really isn’t news to some of the top boxing experts in the sport because legendary trainer Emanuel Steward recently said that he saw Wilder as already the top heavyweight in American in an interview with RingTV, saying “As far as the American fighters, he’s No.1 to me among the American heavyweights. I think that he could step up and challenge in one year.”

By Scott Gilfoid: Looks like the talented heavyweight prospect Deontay Wilder (25-0, 25 KO’s) is really making a name for himself in his camp with IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko because Wladimir has been smothering the young 26-year-old Wilder with compliments after sparring with him a number of times.
Deontay said this on his twitter today about Wladimir: “The champ@Klitschko [Wladimir] reminded me why I’m the future star again today after sparring. I appreciate the great words. [It] really meant a lot. He told me I was his main man and that I was a very good boxer, [and] that I’m the fastest heavyweight he’s ever been in the ring with and he’s so happy I’m here.”

(Photo courtesy of Deontay Wilder twitter) By Scott Gilfoid: 6’7″ unbeaten American heavyweight knockout artist Deontay Wilder (25-0, 25 KO’s) will be facing the equally huge 6’7″ Kelvin Price (13-0, 6 KO’s) on December 15th on the undercard of the Amir Khan vs. Carlos Molina fight on Showtime Boxing at the Sports Arena, in Los Angeles, California. Price, 37, was supposed to have fought Wilder during the summer but unfortunately Price suffered a rib injury and couldn’t take the fight.
Price is a very good fighter with wins over the likes of Tor Hamer and Julius Long. He’s got fast hands, good power and excellent boxing skills to go along with his huge size. Price is definitely someone that should be ranked in the top 15 if he were a busier fighter. Unfortunately, he’s only fought 13 times in his five year pro career and that’s slowed his progression down.
Deontay Wilder speaks from Klitschko camp
Deontay “Bronze Bomber” Wilder (25-0, 25ko) is scheduled to fight Kelvin “Price is right” price, (13-0, 6ko) December 15th from Los Angeles as the main support on the showtime televised Khan-Molina card. Wilder and Price were scheduled to meet in August but price pulled out with an injured rib. Price, 6’8″, 240 lbs is the only boxer to beat Prizefighter champion Tor Hamer. Wilder took time out of his sparring schedule in the Wladimir Klitschko camp to issue this statement about working with the champ.
“Hey, everybody, Deontay Wilder here. I’m in Austria sparring with Wladimir. As you know in boxing, whatever happens in camp stays in camp but I can tell you that we are working very hard and I’ve done a lot of rounds with Wladimir. He is a champ in the ring and out of the ring. The sparring is fast paced and tough and I’m learning every day. Wladimir has a great team around him. Everyone is very professional and working toward one goal – victory!
