Joshua was thinking of fighting Whyte on December 10

By Scott Gilfoid: Before IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua decided on fighting #8 IBF Eric Molina in his fight on December 10, he had been kicking around the idea of facing Dillian Whyte in a rematch. Joshua stopped Whyte in the 7th round last December in their competitive fight at the O2 Arena in London, England.

Whyte had Joshua out on his feet in the 2nd round after clipping him with a left hook to the head. If not for Whyte suffering a shoulder injury in the same round, he likely would have knocked Joshua out.

Whyte wants to send Chisora into retirement

whyte9

By Scott Gilfoid: If #13 WBC heavyweight contender Dillian Whyte (19-1, 15 KOs) gets his way, he’ll be sending #14 WBC Dereck Chisora (26-6, 18 KOs) into a permanent retirement when the two of them fight each other on December 10 on the undercard of the Anthony Joshua vs. Eric Molina card on Sky Box Office Pay-per-view at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England.

The Whyte-Chisora fight is a World Boxing Council heavyweight eliminator, which is kind of interesting given that they’re both little more than bottom rated fringe contenders at best in the WBC’s rankings.

Whyte plans on stopping Chisora

whyte100

By Scott Gilfoid: British heavyweight champion Dillian Whyte (19-1, 15 KOs) wants to KO #14 Dereck Chisora 26-6, 18 KOs) in their fight on December 10 on the undercard of the Anthony Joshua vs. Eric Molina card at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England. #13 WBC Whyte and Chisora will be fighting in a World Boxing Council heavyweight title eliminator on December 10.

The winner becomes the mandatory challenger to WBC champion Deontay “Bronze Bomber” Wilder. It’s unclear why fighters ranked as low as Chisora and Whyte are fighting in a WBC title eliminator. It makes more sense for higher ranked guys to be in an eliminator.

I’m trying to figure out why the WBC is letting bottom dwellers fight in an eliminator rather than the many contenders ranked above them. I’m just saying.

Joshua-Molina & Whyte-Chisora on December 10

1-joshuamolinahires

By Scott Gilfoid: Well, it’s now official that IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua will be defending his strap against #8 IBF contender Eric Molina on December 10th at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England. A good fight, this is not. It’s a nice mismatch, and rate it as a worse mismatch than Joshua’s recent dreadful fight against fringe contender Dominic Breazeale last June at the O2 in London.

The boxing fans don’t seem to be greeting the news of the Joshua-Molina fight with happiness. In looking at the various forums on the Internet, the fans seem pretty angry about the Joshua vs. Molina fight, as they see it largely as a mismatch. The fact that the fight is on pay-per-view is a little disturbing for me.

It’s hard to know why Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn picked the 34-year-old recently knocked out Molina for Joshua’s opponent instead of someone good. All I can think of is Molina was selected was for the same reason that Breazeale was picked out for Joshua last time.

Whyte says Chisora fight a done deal!

whyte6

By Scott Gilfoid: It appears the heavyweight match-up between British fringe contenders Dillian Whyte (19-1, 15 KOs) and former world title challenger Dereck Chisora (26-6, 18 KOs) is a done deal. Whyte, 28, is saying the fight is done.

If this news turns out to be the case, we could potentially see them fighting soon, possibly on the undercard of the December 10th undercard of IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua’s likely title defense against Eric Molina at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England.
