Whyte open to Chisora rematch

By Scott Gilfoid: After winning a HIGHLY controversial 12 round split decision victory last Saturday night over #11 WBC heavyweight contender Dereck Chisora (26-7, 18 KOs) in their WBC heavyweight title eliminator match, #10 WBC Dillian Whyte (20-1, 15 KOs) says he’d be open to a rematch with Chisora. However, Whyte is leaving it up to his promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport to make the final decision whether a rematch will take place.

Hearn might not be too eager to put the 28-year-old Whyte back inside the ring with the 32-year-old Chisora for a couple of reasons. First off, Chisora appeared to beat Whyte in the eyes of a lot of boxing fans including this writer. Secondly, Chisora is NOT promoted by Hearn. He’s with Sauerland. As such, if Whyte faces Chisora a second time and the judges get it right this time, then Whyte can forget about his title shot against WBC heavyweight champion Deontay “Bronze Bomber” Wilder.

The BBBofC had a meeting on Thursday to decide the face of Chisora, who had created a big ruckus during Wednesday’s press conference after he picked up a large table and hurled it in the direction of Whyte.

Chisora tosses table at Whyte, looks rehearsed

chisora1234

By Scott Gilfoid: At Wednesday’s press conference, 32-year-old former heavyweight title challenger Dereck Chisora (26-6, 18 KOs) tossed a flimsy table in the direction of his opponent British heavyweight champion Dillian Whyte (19-1, 15 KOs) after the two of them had words.

It looked much rehearsed with the way that Chisora got emotional all of a sudden and picked up what appeared to be a plastic table and toss it. I don’t know what the other tables were made of, but the one that Chisora threw appeared to be an ultra-light plastic table.

It’ll be interesting to see how this explosion by Chisora is talked about on social media and twitter. Will it create interest in the boxing world and make big news or will the fans see it as little more than a well-rehearsed play designed to get the fans interested in his match against Whyte. I know what I think. It looked pre-thought out rather than something done on the spur of the moment by Chisora.

Chisora predicts KO win over Whyte

chisora

By Scott Gilfoid: Former heavyweight title challenger Dereck Chisora (26-6, 18 KOs) is predicting a knockout victory over #10 WBC Dillian Whyte (19-1, 15 KOs) in their WBC heavyweight title eliminator bout this Saturday night on Sky Box Office PPV at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England.

Chisora, 32, figures that he’s the much harder puncher of the two, so he’ll be knocking Whyte out to become the mandatory challenger to WBC champion Deontay Wilder. Honestly, it’s hard for me to picture the winner of the Whyte vs. Chisora fight facing a talent like Deontay. Come on, these guys haven’t proven they’re better than domestic level guys, and the World Council is letting them fight in a WBC eliminator.

By Scott Gilfoid: #10 WBC Dillian Whyte (19-1, 15 KOs) will be fighting #11 WBC Dereck Chisora (26-6, 18 KOs) this Saturday night on December 10 in a WBC heavyweight eliminator bout at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England. Whyte vs. Chisora will be taking place on the undercard of the Anthony Joshua vs. Eric Molina card on Sky Box Office pay-per-view. Whyte-Chisora is the co-feature bout.

Whyte will be defending his British heavyweight strap against Chisora. That title is of little significance in the big scheme of things for Whyte. He wants a world title shot, because that’s where the big money comes in.

Whyte is never going to get the big cash if all he does is fiddle around with the British belt rather than a major title. The fact that Whyte even bothered to go after the British title at his age is hard to understand.

By Scott Gilfoid: After the way British heavyweights Dillian Whyte and Dereck Chisora were trying to get at each other recently during the filming of the ‘Gloves are off’ special, the British Boxing Board of Control has advised that the two heavyweights be kept apart until their fight next month on December 10 at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England.

The BBBofC wants to make sure there are no problems between the two that could lead to a blow up. However, Whyte’s promoter Eddie Hearn wants to have at least one face-off between Whyte and Chisora for the boxing fans in the buildup to the fight.
