Roman Gonzalez: I want a rematch with Rungvisai

By Dan Ambrose: Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez saw his star dimmed last Saturday night in a bloody and grueling 12 round majority decision defeat at the hands of Srisaket Sor Rungvisai at Madison Square Garden in New York. Gonzalez dealt with a large cut over his right eye from round 3, and the leaking blood certainly didn’t help Gonzalez’s efforts to try and turn back the threat from the fighter from Thailand. Gonzalez (46-1, 38 KOs) wants a rematch with Rungvisai (42-4-1, 38 KOs) as soon as possible.

Golovkin vs. Jacobs: Will it go the distance?

Image: Golovkin vs. Jacobs: Will it go the distance?

By Gerardo Granados: This Saturday at the Madison Square Garden, New York, a solid boxing card awaits for all proud fight fans for the Gennady Golovkin vs. Daniel Jacobs card. In the undercard there’s former WBC super flyweight champion Carlos Cuadras facing David Carmona. “El Principe” Cuadras should do an easy job and look impressive defeating Carmona. We also have pound for pound King, Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez making his first defense of his WBC super flyweight title, against mandatory challenger experienced former WBC super flyweight champion Wisaksil Wangek. Against Cuadras, Chocolatito had to dig deep to earn the decision and on his first defense attempt of his title, we could see if moving up to his fourth division has really affected his punching power.

Cuadras hopes Roman Gonzalez fights him again

Image: Cuadras hopes Roman Gonzalez fights him again

By Dan Ambrose: The idea behind #1 WBC Carlos Cuadras and WBC super flyweight champion Roman Gonzalez both fighting on the same card on March 18 is that if they both win, they’ll face each other in a rematch.

Cuadras (35-1-1, 27 KOs) isn’t sure whether Gonzalez (46-0, 38 KOs) will fight him again, but he’s hoping he does. Cuadras will be fighting Mexican David Carmona (20-3-5, 8 KOs) in a 10 round fight on the undercard of the Gennady “GGG” Golovkin fight on HBO pay-per-view.

Roman Gonzalez vs. Srisaket sor Rungvisai added to Golovkin-Jacobs card

By Dan Ambrose: The March 18th fight card headlined by IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin vs. Daniel Jacobs just got a lot stronger today with the addition of WBC super flyweight champion Roman “Chocoltito” Gonzalez (46-0, 38 KOs) vs. Srisaket sor Rungvisai (41-4-1, 38 KOs) being added to the undercard as the co-feature bout at Madison Square Garden in New York.

The Gonzalez-Rungvisa isn’t a great fight like last September’s match between Gonzalez and Carlos Cuadras, but it will be nice for the boxing fans to see Gonzalez in action. His opponent 30-year-old Rungvisai is little more than the prop that will standing across from Gonzalez in the ring on March 18 to absorb punishment.

Roman Gonzalez vs. Srisaket Sor Rungvisai on Golovkin-Jacobs card

Image: Roman Gonzalez vs. Srisaket Sor Rungvisai on Golovkin-Jacobs card

By Dan Ambrose: WBC super flyweight champion Roman Gonzalez (46-0, 38 KOs) will be making his first defense of his title against #2 WBC Srisaket Sor Rungvisai (41-4-1, 38 KOs) on March 18 on the undercard of the middleweight title fight between Gennady “GGG” Golovkin and Daniel Jacobs on HBO pay-per-view at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Gonzalez vs. Rungvisai will be the co-feature bout on the Golovkin-Jacobs card. This is not nearly as interesting a fight than a rematch between Gonzalez and Carlos Cuadras. I think more boxing fans want to see a second fight between those two guys than seeing Gonzalez fight the 30-year-old Rungvisai, who has an inflated resume of mostly weak opposition.
