Triple G’s Numbers 150k and Perfectly fine

1-GolovkinLemieux_HoganphotosBy Rick Jones III: The last 20 years boxing has been held by it’s throat by Floyd Mayweather Jr. The boxer that considers himself “The Greatest Of All Time,” had a real tight grip on the sport of boxing. The boxer then retired as of Sep 12th of 2015, which I have marked on my calendar the day boxing was reborn and possibly the best thing that has happen for the professional sport.

The pay-per-view numbers finally came out for the Gennady Golovkin – David Lemieux fight, which hit a little bit over 150,000 buys on HBO last Saturday night. So does that mean that the famous Triple G is not worthy of the throne Mayweather Jr. left behind? No…HELL NO! What this means is that the sport of boxing is actually level and balanced.

Mayweather Only Has Two Options: Bradley or Pacquiao

floyd7By Rick Jones III: I strongly believe this is the end of the road for Floyd Mayweather Jr. I have been hearing rumor after rumor that his next opponent is Andre Berto and then I hear that it is Mayfield and then I hear it is Amir Khan. I think it is Hilarious and pretty damn disrespectful to the boxing fan that this is happening when the only two options for Mr. Money Mayweather are Timothy Bradley and a rematch with Manny Pacquiao.

The funny thing about this whole situation is that Mayweather thinks his work is done in the sport of boxing. I give him the respect on the fact he beat a guy that he was avoiding for years but that’s it.

Mayweather vs. Pacquiao Having The Ultimate Undercard

floyd10By Rick Jones III: Boxing is about to have there “Super Bowl” on May 2nd when World champions Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao finally meet in the ring to settle some long awaited business.

The last few months have been nothing but Mayweather vs. Pacquiao news in the boxing world but I have also been wondering about the undercard. The Undercard for this fight is going to be crucial for any of the networks that broadcast the fight (Showtime / HBO) to truly say that this is the “Super Bowl “of boxing.

Mayweather and Pacquiao building the hype

floyd58544By Rick Jones III: The best thing any business can do to make there product shine is to market and manage. I believe Showtime has talked and explained to both fighters the in and outs of what is going to happen in the next few months. The first thing that happen was a friendly confrontation in public. The fighters were well train to show that they just met and talked for a brief moment. I paid more attention to detail on body language and facial gestures. I believe that Manny Pacquiao didn’t expect Floyd Mayweather Jr to go through with the meet and greet.

Mayweather never seem to talk directly to Manny Pacquiao to give that sense of hate. The last thing that caught my attention was the forced hug at the end, Looked like it was planned and neither fighter wanted to go through with it.

Austin Trout seeks a rematch with Canelo Alvarez

trout011By Amos: Boxing fans had the pleasure to witness the highly anticipated WBC & WBA Junior Middleweight unification bout between Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (42-0-1, 30 KO’s) and Austin “No Doubt” Trout (26-1, 14 KO’s). It was the fight which declared Saul “Canelo” Alvarez as the undisputed champion of the division.

However, after watching the fight, Austin Trout acknowledges he needed to do much, much more in order to decisively win the fight. Trout believed he would be able to out-box Canelo and completely dominate the fight to win a “lopsided decision.” However, Canelo surprised the boxing public and even Trout with an improved defense and footwork which had not been seen before. Canelo did not merely come forward and had a much different game plan than some writers thought he would have.

Tyson Inspires Respect – Boxing

tyson1234By Jamie Hooper: Mike Tyson once again showed his appreciation of boxers gone by, with a very thoughtful visit to Merthyr Tydfil to lay flowers at the statute of the Matchstick Man Johnny Owen.

Mike was mobbed by the locals as he walked through the shopping centre to the location of the statue. There was no protesters, no woman’s groups, just a very excited crowd who looked amazed that Mike Tyson would visits they’re town.
